While little things like an electric pencil sharpener, new Expo markers, and snacks seem insignificant, these small things have a big impact. I take pride in my classroom, and I teach my students to do the same with their efforts every day.\r\n\r\nDetails matter: an electric pencil sharpener that actually works well is the best way to start a project. Students understand the difference between something that works well, and something that does not. A sharp pencil sets the tone for caring about the quality of your work.\r\n\r\nSnacks are a huge bonus for my students. We use the snacks as a way to start our after school tutoring sessions. It's a thrill for students to pick whatever snack they want before they get started on their homework. We also used the snacks at our Breakfast with Books event. Students could share snacks as a small moment of hospitality to their peers who came to see their book projects. \r\n\r\nJust as you so graciously shared, my students had the opportunity to share with one another both in learning and igraciousness. Thank you for supporting big and small moments in my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1763489607239,"projectUrl":"project/boost-our-basics/9903855/","projectTitle":"Boost Our Basics!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cahill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9935476_orig.jpg?crop=1215,1215,x850,y663&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757529241107","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9935476"},{"teacherId":9134146,"projectId":9253475,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students and I have been able to use the new cushions and stadium chairs almost every single day! They've transformed our classroom into a space where students can comfortably move around and choose flexible seating during partner work or independent assignments.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were so excited – they LOVED the chairs and couldn't wait to try them out. It was wonderful to see how quickly they embraced the new setup and how it's helping them stay focused and engaged.\r\n\r\nOur classroom is also stocked and organized for a strong start to the year — we have fresh markers ready to go, and our old supplies are now neatly sorted thanks to the new bins. This has made it so much easier for students to find what they need and stay productive.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're even more excited to use the clay you helped us receive during one of our first social studies units on Mesopotamia. We'll be recreating artifacts and getting hands-on with history, which will make the lesson come alive for the students. They can't wait — and honestly, neither can I!\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving us these opportunities. You've made a real impact on our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1746785963082,"projectUrl":"project/comfort-curiosity-and-confidence-empo/9253475/","projectTitle":"Comfort, Curiosity, and Confidence: Empowering 6th Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bendersky","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9134146_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y655&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733948415063","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9134146"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_26750","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":682,"numTeachers":62,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":13,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":79,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.1,"schoolId":26750,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about George Washington Middle School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"George Washington Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/lyons-elementary-school-district-103/george-washington-middle-school/26750"}
