All of the items in this project are frequently requested. They walk up to their desired item or choose from a field of pictures. The most popular items among my students are the farm set, gear toy, and egg matching set. The cause-and-effect toys that were donated have been wonderful in eliciting language such as \"more,\" \"help,\" \"go,\" etc. The puzzles and build-and-spin farm toy have been great for targeting vocabulary in a way that doesn't feel like work.\r\n \r\nMy students are always so excited to come to speech and play with the toys donated through this project. Each time I walk into their classrooms, they take my hand, hoping it is their turn!\r\n\r\nThese items are great first step in eliciting one-word responses, but my goal is to help my students build and expand their utterance length. The donated materials allow me to create a language-rich environment where they are exposed to phrases of varying lengths. It is my goal that they will begin to produce their own 2+ word utterances to communicate both in speech therapy and in the classroom setting. Not only that, but I hope to build my students' functional language skills in what they are able to understand, comprehend, and communicate. The items donated through this project are a great way to do that.\r\n\r\nMy students and I greatly appreciate your help in making this possible. We could not do it without you.
