There were cheers as they unboxed colorful new balls, agility hurdles, and team vests. For many of our students, having \"brand new\" gear makes them feel appreciated and highlights that their physical health is a priority. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of usually quiet students immediately organize their own relay race using the new cones, encouraging each other with a level of leadership and enthusiasm I hadn't seen before.\r\n\r\nWe are already putting these resources to good use. In our current unit, students are using the agility equipment to set personal fitness goals, track their progress, and celebrate small victories in coordination and speed. Looking ahead, our next step is a \"Student-Led Olympics,\" where they will use the materials to create their own stations and teach their peers new skills. Your contribution hasn't just provided \"stuff\"; it has given the tools for my students to build confidence, teamwork, and lifelong healthy habits.","fullyFundedDate":1765747342307,"projectUrl":"project/new-physical-education-materials-needed/9814375/","projectTitle":"New Physical Education Materials Needed","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Loucks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10307494_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1765896005695","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10307494"},{"teacherId":8130490,"projectId":10070291,"letterContent":"Indoor recess toys have made a meaningful and positive impact on our fourth grade classroom. Before we had these toys available, indoor recess could sometimes feel long and unstructured for students. Because fourth graders have a lot of energy and a strong need to move, play, and interact with one another, sitting quietly during indoor recess was often challenging. The addition of indoor recess toys has completely changed the atmosphere in our classroom during these times. Students now look forward to indoor recess and use it as an opportunity to relax, socialize, and engage in creative play.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest benefits of indoor recess toys is that they provide students with a healthy and productive outlet for their energy. When students are unable to go outside due to weather, they still need a way to move, laugh, and reset their minds. Toys such as building blocks, board games, puzzles, drawing materials, and small activity sets allow students to stay engaged in ways that are both fun and meaningful. Instead of becoming restless or bored, students are focused on activities that encourage thinking, cooperation, and creativity.\r\n\r\nIndoor recess toys have also helped strengthen relationships among students. Many of the toys encourage teamwork, sharing, and communication. Board games and group activities require students to take turns, follow rules, and work together toward a common goal. Through these experiences, students learn important social skills such as patience, fairness, and problem-solving. It has been wonderful to watch students invite classmates to join their games, teach each other new activities, and celebrate small victories together. These interactions help build a stronger classroom community.\r\n\r\nAnother important impact is the positive effect these toys have on students' emotional well-being. The school day can be demanding, and students benefit from short breaks where they can relax and enjoy themselves. Indoor recess provides a chance for students to decompress and recharge. When students return to their academic work after playing with the toys, they are often more focused, calm, and ready to learn. This reset helps improve overall classroom productivity and reduces frustration or off-task behavior.","fullyFundedDate":1771627686974,"projectUrl":"project/thinking-games-for-rainy-days/10070291/","projectTitle":"Thinking Games for Rainy Days","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Walker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8130490_orig.jpg?crop=465,465,x83,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690394031777","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8130490"},{"teacherId":10307182,"projectId":9813582,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom and students. The impact of your gifts has been immediate and meaningful.\r\n\r\nThe first time the weighted butterfly was placed on the back of a dysregulated child, we watched him gradually calm his body and begin responding to the adult working with him. It was a powerful moment that showed just how effective this tool is in helping students regulate.\r\n\r\nThe Pfuffle Playfoam has quickly become a favorite in our sensory room. Students are drawn to it — it's both mesmerizing and an excellent tool for redirecting attention and helping them refocus when they need a reset.\r\n\r\nThe Little Spot books and plush toys are also well-loved. They provide such a wonderful, engaging way to introduce emotions and teach calming strategies in a way our students truly connect with.\r\n\r\nYour investment in our classroom and in the well-being of our students is beyond measure. As you can imagine, they think having dry erase markers to use is a the coolest tool! They love to write on white boards and even their desks! And before the donation of the erasers arrived, we were using old mismatched socks (which I assured them had been washed, but they were still a little leery- they agree erasers are much better ; -) I have an over the door shoe rack that they each get to keep their very own set of headphones in to use when they listen to reading or work on their individual reading games. As well, the tiered carts have been so incredibly helpful in allowing each group to keep their supplies organized and tidy. All materials make their learning more complete and my teaching much easier. \r\nWhen I told them all about Donors Choose and how it works, they just could not believe that strangers, as well as people I know, would donate money to buy things our classroom needs. When they saw the packages start arriving from Amazon, they were ecstatic to open them with me and see what surprises were inside. I love that they are realizing that many people are invested in their success and want them to a do great things in life....not just me and their families.
