Our students are drawn to it throughout the day, and some have even started requesting the sensory bin using their AAC devices, which is such an exciting step in their communication growth. It has created many meaningful opportunities for our class to make choices, express preferences, and engage more independently in their learning.\r\n\r\nWe use the sensory bin to bring our monthly themes to life, filling it with materials that connect to what we are learning. Whether we are exploring seasonal items, practicing vocabulary, or working on fine motor skills, our friends are fully engaged through hands on play. One of my favorite moments has been watching different friends who usually avoid messy play become curious enough to touch and explore the sensory bin materials. Seeing that shift from hesitation to curiosity has been such a powerful reminder of how inviting and accessible this space has become.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue to rotate materials to match our themes and introduce more structured activities like sorting, matching, and simple academic tasks within the sensory bin. This will help deepen learning while keeping the joy and excitement that our learners feel every time they use it. Your support has made a lasting impact by giving us a space where everyone can explore, communicate, and grow in ways that are meaningful to all. Our new rug has become the heart of our room and a place where we gather, learn, play, and connect throughout the entire day. It provides a comfortable, clearly defined space that helps everyone feel safe, supported, and ready to engage. Whether we are sitting together for stories, participating in group lessons, or simply taking a moment to reset, the rug gives everyone a sense of belonging and structure that is so important for their success.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, having a consistent and inviting space makes a huge difference in their ability to focus and participate. The rug has helped increase engagement during group activities and has encouraged more peer interaction, communication, and shared experiences. It has quickly become a favorite spot in our classroom and is used constantly from morning meeting to play-based learning.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a meaningful, daily impact on everyone's learning and social growth. We have moved the tank into a larger, more accessible area in the room ensuring that each student can easily see and enjoy it. The bigger thank and bubbler help create a calming presence that helps students slow their bodies and stay engaged. Throughout the day, students naturally stop to watch the fish swim, and share their excitement through smiles, gestures, eye contact, and growing language. These simple moments support regulation, communication, and social emotional growth in such an authentic way.\r\n\r\nThe students are most excited about how much more they can see now. The fish have more room to swim, and the soft bubbling sound keeps their attention longer than before. Many students choose to stay near the tank during free time or transitions, using it as a place to relax and reset. The automatic feeder has also become a favorite part of our routine, and students love being part of caring for the fish and knowing they are taken care of every day.\r\n\r\nSome of my students who typically struggle with regulation or communication have really connected with the fish tank. Students who once had a hard time with transitions now seek out the tank to calm themselves and get ready for what comes next. Others who are emerging communicators are using more gestures, sounds, and words to comment on the fish or share the experience with their friends and teachers. The aquarium continues to be a shared space that brings our class together and supports calm, connection, and growth exactly the way we hoped when we started this project!","fullyFundedDate":1760710013181,"projectUrl":"project/a-bigger-and-better-home-for-our-class-f/9755561/","projectTitle":"A Bigger and Better Home for Our Class Fish","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Katlin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/katlin"},{"teacherId":10236044,"projectId":9744418,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support of our classroom. Because of your generosity, my students now get to use our bubble sensory tube every single day, and it has quickly become a calming focal point in our learning space.\r\n\r\nWe use the bubble tube daily during center time and calm down moments. Students often choose to sit near the tube and quietly watch the bubbles rise. We talk together about the fish we see inside the tube, the bubbles, the colors, and how everything moves around. These conversations support language development, attention, and shared engagement in a way that feels natural and meaningful for my students.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were very curious and excited. Some students wanted to touch and explore by trying to tip the tube over. After modeling and practicing how to be near the tube safely, students quickly learned appropriate ways to interact with it. Now they independently choose to go to the bubble tube to watch, calm their bodies, and enjoy the sensory experience.\r\n\r\nYour donation has truly enhanced our classroom environment and supports my students as they learn how to regulate, communicate, and engage with the world around them.
