The moment they began working with them, math concepts that once felt abstract became hands-on and clear. We used the tools to explore geometric shapes and graphical movements, and the students loved seeing how rotations, reflections, and translations connected to what they were learning on paper. Their excitement grew as they realized they could apply these same ideas to bigger concepts in algebra.\r\n\r\nThese materials became especially powerful when we transitioned into solving systems of equations by substitution. Students were able to see how equations intersected visually while also working through the algebraic steps, making the process more meaningful and approachable. The next step is for students to apply these skills in real-world projects, modeling and comparing different scenarios with systems of equations. Your generosity has helped make math come alive in our classroom, and we are truly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1757941602728,"projectUrl":"project/transforming-math-learning-with-thinking/9596883/","projectTitle":"Transforming Math Learning with Thinking Classrooms and Flexible Spaces","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. McKnight","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7129858_orig.jpg?crop=757,757,x208,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1582247677168","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dallastrip"},{"teacherId":7129858,"projectId":9004466,"letterContent":"When our classroom lights arrived, my students were so excited to see them! What made this project extra special is that the lights weren't just for decoration — they came in pieces that the students had to build themselves. This immediately turned into a hands-on learning opportunity where students worked together to create spherical lamp shades. As they built, we connected the activity to our math curriculum by discussing the volume and surface area of the 3D shapes they were constructing. It was incredible to see students making real-world connections to concepts we had been learning in class.\r\n\r\nSince installing the lights, our classroom feels more welcoming, creative, and student-centered. The lights not only brighten the space but serve as a daily reminder of what our students can accomplish when they work together. It sparked curiosity and ownership in our learning environment. Moving forward, we plan to build on this momentum by exploring more real-world math applications — from designing their own 3D shapes to calculating measurements and solving problems connected to everyday objects. Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has truly become a place where learning comes to life!","fullyFundedDate":1744033046819,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-lights/9004466/","projectTitle":"Classroom Lights","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. McKnight","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7129858_orig.jpg?crop=757,757,x208,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1582247677168","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dallastrip"},{"teacherId":9265590,"projectId":8674193,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of scrubs to the Animal Science program at TCALC.
