We were able to raise enough funds to not only purchase two Elly Swartz books for our 2nd semester, but also to provide funds to do a Live Zoom with the author herself! While reading Dear Student, we kept a reflection journal where we wrote down predictions, questions for Elly, and powerful statements/quotes we loved. We zoomed LIVE with Elly for an hour near the end of the school year and we came prepared with TONS of questions for her! She motivated us even more by providing heartfelt advice about being a writer and also about being proud of who we are as a human! She told us that no matter what we \"want\" to do in life, while it may not be easy and may not happen right away, we CAN do anything we put our minds to!\r\n\r\nWith the school year wrapping up, we decided to extend our Book Club into the summer months to read the second book as a group also! We have been reading Same Page (also by Elly) over the months of June and July. Mrs. K reserved a big circle conference room at the local public Library for us to gather every two weeks to read together. Being a follower of our Book Clubbing progress, Elly (the author) reached back out to Mrs. K and has offered a free second LIVE zoom with her to wrap up this amazing piece of literature as well! We could not be more thrilled to be able to ask her even more questions and hear about this books inspiration. None of this would be possible without the support of all the Donors and we wanted to give y'all a big shout out of THANK YOU!","fullyFundedDate":1744252071227,"projectUrl":"project/booked-on-a-feeling-real-reading-with/9125577/","projectTitle":"Booked On A Feeling: \"Real Reading with Real Authors\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ketterling (K)","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9929027_orig.png?crop=603,603,x6,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740597428690","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/booknerd-mtms"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56896","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":655,"numTeachers":46,"percentFrplEligible":12,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":80,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":56896,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Monticello Trails Middle School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Monticello Trails Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/kansas/unified-school-district-232/monticello-trails-middle-school/56896"}
