When the new books arrived, the excitement in the room was immediate—students hovered around the boxes, eager to hold a real story in their hands. For many of them, reading has been something that happens on a screen. These books have reminded them—sometimes for the very first time—what it feels like to settle in, turn a page, and be completely absorbed.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is now a daily ritual. Students begin class by choosing a quiet spot, opening their book, and letting the room soften to a gentle hush. With their newly covered, well-cared-for copies, they dive into rich texts that introduce essential skills: analyzing characters' decisions, identifying themes, tracking how authors build tension, and drawing connections between the text and their own lives. Because we all have the same edition, we can pause together to annotate, revisit important passages, and discuss the moments where a character's choices reveal what makes a good friend, a brave leader, or a compassionate human.\r\n\r\nYour gift has helped recreate that sensory, meaningful experience of reading a physical book—something many of us adults treasure, but that many kids today rarely get. The rustle of pages, the weight of the story in their hands, the feeling that each page turned is a step deeper into a journey—my students now know that joy.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving them stories they can hold, return to, and carry forward. Your support has made reading feel real, personal, and full of possibility.","fullyFundedDate":1755705104029,"projectUrl":"project/stocking-bookshelves-sparking-minds/9505540/","projectTitle":"Stocking Bookshelves, Sparking Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Robinson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8402771_orig.jpg?crop=1690,1690,x1300,y1180&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754439050851","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8402771"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70929","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":240,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":86,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":14,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":70.0,"schoolId":70929,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Engadine School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Engadine School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/engadine-consolidated-school-district/engadine-high-school/70929"}
