From the moment they saw the materials, my students were excited and intrigued by the new possibilities these tools offered. We began our exploration with a monoprinting project using botanical shapes and fallen leaves, which allowed students to experiment with texture, color, and layering. This hands-on experience sparked their creativity as they connected with nature and discovered new ways to express themselves through printmaking. Additionally, we explored the work of Henri Matisse, studying his use of bold, simple shapes and vibrant colors, and students used the Gelli Plates to create prints inspired by his distinctive style. The combination of these new resources and artistic references helped deepen their understanding of both traditional and contemporary art techniques.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students are eager to continue their journey with the Gelli Plates. As they develop more advanced printmaking techniques, they will incorporate a variety of textures, stencils, and multi-layered designs into their prints. This ongoing work will build on the foundational skills they've already gained and allow them to push their creative boundaries even further. By using the Gelli Plates, students are not only learning technical skills but are also gaining confidence in their artistic voices. The impact of this project will continue to resonate as they explore new mediums and refine their abilities, all thanks to the incredible support from our donors.","fullyFundedDate":1756321165972,"projectUrl":"project/art-exploration-through-gel-printing/9578314/","projectTitle":"Art Exploration Through Gel Printing","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vivio","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2258759_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y386&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1597893830912","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-vivio"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_42664","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":525,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":39,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.6,"schoolId":42664,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about White Lake Middle School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"White Lake Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/huron-valley-school-district/white-lake-middle-school/42664"}
