My students were over the moon when they walked in and discovered our brand-new rug! They couldn't believe how soft and comfortable it was. During our very first morning using it, they eagerly gathered together and chose their own spots to sit. This rug replaced a worn, well-loved rug that had been in our room for many years, and I could immediately see how excited the students were to have something fresh and new—something they were the very first to use.\r\n\r\nWe use our classroom rug every single day. It has quickly become the heart of our room. It's where we begin each morning with our meeting and \"Hello Song.\" Students sit together on the rug for small-group games, partner work, and community-building activities. When reading independently, many of them choose a cozy place on the rug to settle in with a book. It also serves as our whole-group gathering space for read-alouds and classroom discussions. This rug is truly a centerpiece to our learning environment.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue strengthening our classroom community on this rug—gathering daily, learning together, and remembering the generosity and kindness that made this refreshed space possible. Your contribution has brought comfort, joy, and a sense of being valued to my students every day.\r\n\r\nThank you for making a lasting impact on our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1755175251659,"projectUrl":"project/a-carpet-for-classroom-community/9480768/","projectTitle":"A Carpet For Classroom Community","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Perry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7700229_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1658254743302","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/vvbperry"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_66809","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":293,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":70,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":81,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":66809,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Walters Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Walters Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/marshall-public-school-district/walters-elementary-school/66809"}
