While science can be inherently interesting, helping students see the connection between what we learning and the real world can be a challenge. I so often hear students ask, \"Why do we have to learn this?\" Using Science World magazine in class is a perfect way to help bridge that gap for my students. Each issue is packed with real world science applications that are very high interest for students. This helps keep them engaged in science in a way that regular curriculum alone cannot accomplish.\r\n\r\nThe high engagement these magazines bring also helps make literacy instruction in my content area class. By the time students reach 7th grade, the best way to help improve their reading skills is by getting them to actually read. This is more difficult than you might think! Many students are resistant to reading, particularly informational text. Science World actually gets students excited about reading. The first issue we used from our donation had a cover story on \"Brain Rot.\" When I tell you, the kids couldn't get their copies fast enough, I am not exaggerating! Having informational text that students are not only willing to read, but are clamoring to read is a tremendous asset.\r\n\r\nWe have already used our first issue of Science World in class and I have students ask me almost everyday when we will get to read the next issue. I am so excited to continue incorporating this awesome resource into my class this year and for years to come!","fullyFundedDate":1760656448630,"projectUrl":"project/real-world-science-and-information-readi/9603919/","projectTitle":"Real World Science and Information Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kramer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8431359"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_73368","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":827,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":18,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":66,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"21.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":73368,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pioneer Middle School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Pioneer Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/plymouth-canton-cmty-schools/pioneer-middle-school/73368"}
