The pencil sharpeners have made a huge difference in keeping our classroom running smoothly. Instead of long lines at a single sharpener or interruptions during lessons, students can quickly and independently sharpen their pencils and get right back to learning. This has helped us protect valuable instructional time and keep everyone focused.\r\n\r\nThe Expo markers have been especially exciting. We use them during math and reading small groups on whiteboards for guided practice, quick checks for understanding, and interactive games. One memorable moment was during a recent math lesson on multi-digit multiplication. Students worked in pairs to solve problems on their whiteboards, holding up their answers for immediate feedback. The room was buzzing with engagement, and even some of my quieter students eagerly participated because they could quickly erase and try again without fear of making a mistake. The ability to \"try, revise, and retry\" has truly boosted their confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new supplies, they were thrilled! Something as simple as fresh, colorful Expo markers and efficient sharpeners made them feel valued and excited to learn. Several students commented on how smoothly the sharpeners worked, and others couldn't wait to use the bright markers during our next activity. Their excitement reminded me how meaningful it is when they have the tools they need.\r\n\r\nAs for next steps, we are beginning a new writing unit where students will brainstorm, outline, and revise their personal narratives. The whiteboards and markers will allow us to practice crafting strong leads, experimenting with word choice, and peer-editing in an interactive way before drafting on paper. In math, we'll continue using the whiteboards for problem-solving challenges and small group reteach sessions to strengthen key skills.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has created a more efficient, engaging, and confidence-building classroom environment. These everyday tools are making an extraordinary difference in our students' learning experiences. Many people use technology every day, but may not realize how important it is for young learners. In first grade, so much of our instruction involves listening. Whether it's reading lessons, phonics practice, or educational games that help students build early literacy and math skills. The headphones allow students to focus without distractions, hear directions clearly, and work at their own pace during centers. Because of this, they are more confident and more independent during their learning time.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is the feeling of having their \"own\" tool that helps them learn. They love being able to listen to stories, follow along with reading passages, and use learning apps without the noise of the whole class around them. For many of them, it feels like a special privilege, and they take great pride in using the headphones responsibly. This also allows them to choose what they want to listen to, as it individualizes instruction. \r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially benefited from this project. A few of my quieter learners, who sometimes hesitate to participate in whole-group settings, have opened up more because the headphones help them concentrate and understand the material better. One student who struggles with background noise now stays focused for much longer stretches of time. Another student who has a learning disability has become noticeably more engaged, smiling ear to ear when she can clearly hear the words and practice them at her own speed.\r\n\r\nYour donation may seem like a simple item, but its impact has been huge. Thank you for helping create a calmer, more focused learning environment where every student can succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1762364714519,"projectUrl":"project/headphone-hero/9863995/","projectTitle":"Headphone Hero","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Baughman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10335452_orig.jpg?crop=985,985,x1538,y2882&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768502789624","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10335452"},{"teacherId":6483479,"projectId":8974802,"letterContent":"This stunt helper is allowing our cheerleaders at the base of the stunt to learn proper techniques before a flyer (the girl being lifted) ever gets up there. By being able to teach proper techniques with the stunt helper, it is keeping all of our cheerleaders safe. This stunt helper also allows us to continue practice even if our flyer is missing. One problem that has occurred in the past is that our flyer might be out and our bases would have to stand there and pretend they had someone in the air. With the stunt helper, though, they have resistance being added making it feel like they're still holding someone. This is going to help keep them strong and in proper technique.
