Thanks to your support, we were able to acquire a copy of \"The Snow Fell Three Graves Deep: Voices from the Donner Party\" for each student to use.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment we began reading, the students were captivated by the unique storytelling style of the book. It was a joy to see them engage with the characters, sharing their favorites and even expressing genuine sadness when some of them met tragic fates. They connected to the characters and demonstrated empathy with people from a different time and circumstance.\r\n\r\nAs we delved into the historical aspects of westward expansion, the students gained invaluable insights into the challenges and hardships faced by those who ventured into the unknown. More than just a history lesson, this book prompted my students to reflect on their own lives and consider what it means to be grateful and resilient in the face of adversity. I was particularly amazed to see students who typically struggle with reading express their enjoyment and interest in this book, sparking a newfound enthusiasm for literature. Many have even expressed interest in exploring more works by the same author.\r\n\r\nThe freshness of this book, written within the last few years, resonated with my students, and they appreciated the unique perspective of Hunger as the narrator, along with the creative literary devices used to tell the story. It has opened up discussions and reflections that will surely last well beyond our reading sessions.\r\n\r\nI am excited to use this book in my classroom for many years to come, knowing it has made a significant impact on my students' love for reading. Thank you once again for your generosity and support of education. Your contributions have helped foster a love for literature and learning in my students, and for that, I am grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1715081238787,"projectUrl":"project/perseverance-the-secret-of-all-triumphs/8351783/","projectTitle":"Perseverance, the Secret of all Triumphs!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hughes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hughesscience"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_77347","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":270,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":22.2,"schoolId":77347,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brookfield High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Brookfield High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/missouri/brookfield-school-district-r3/brookfield-high-school/77347"}
