We are learning how to share, take turns and communicate while playing.\r\nThe students love the smell of the cinnamon scented acorns. They discuss how they smell like different foods, things at home and how many beans are in it.\r\nWe're able to add letters to search for letter sounds, names and sight words. Students use measuring cups, scoopers, pinchers, spoons, etc to dig around. The students have gotten use to using the Toniesto listen to stories, exercise, dance and relax.\r\nThey have learned how to choose the Tonie they want to listen to, put they're headphones in and place the tonie where it goes. They have even learned to listen without the headphones with a partner. \r\nThe Tonie is a useful center that enhances they're listening skills. It sits next to the library center so it is always available as a choice. We can even use it for nap, those that don't sleep can quietly listen to stories. They help them to calm down or distract their sadness so that I can talk and help them understand why they are upset and how to react in those moments. Learning to change your emotions while you're sad can be challenging when you're at a young age. Having different manipulatives that can keep is definitely a good resource.
