The dry-erase number line boards became an instant hit during math. We've been using them during small-group instruction to break down concepts like addition, subtraction, and number sequencing. One student who typically struggles with number placement told me, \"This makes it so much easier, I can see the numbers now!\"\r\n\r\nThe Pacon privacy boards have become a quiet game changer. My students love using them during independent work time. One child who's easily distracted now asks for the board himself, it's helped him focus and feel more confident.\r\n\r\nFor literacy, the magnetic notebook paper has been a fantastic visual tool. I use it during mini-lessons to model writing techniques, from topic sentences to paragraph structure, and students are much more engaged when they can see ideas come to life in large format.\r\n\r\nThe Reading Comprehension Cubes have added a fun, hands-on element to our reading groups. Students roll the cubes and answer questions that help deepen their understanding of the stories we read. It's amazing to hear even the quietest students enthusiastically participate.\r\n\r\nOur lined mini journals have become a treasured part of our day. During our quiet writing block, students grab their journals and just write. They're learning to express their thoughts freely, and I've seen growth not just in writing skills but in their confidence.\r\n\r\nThe book bins have helped keep our small group area organized, which means less transition time and more time spent learning. And lastly, the calm stickers have been a soothing support for students who need sensory regulation. One student who often feels anxious during transitions now rubs the sticker on his desk when he needs a moment. I had a few students say that they had similar ones at their own house or a house they have been to. They complimented my choice on the stools, too. They were all captivated by the new whiteboard as well. They know that without your generosity, BSN would not be an active student group this year. \r\n\r\nThe impact your gift has had is immeasurable because the skills my crew of 17 fifth graders are learning will continue to benefit them beyond elementary school. I'm working with the faculty advisor of a similar student group at a nearby highschool to arrange a meeting and potential mentorship between his students and mine. \r\n\r\nOf course in addition to those 17 students, the rest of the school has enjoyed the episodes created, edited, and produced by BSN. Seeing themselves and other Beartooth students of all ages and grade groups participating in classroom activities, field trips, and various school events brings joy and excitement to our building as well as a spirit of cohesion that reinforces what we as their teachers are always telling them- that they matter, that they are important, and that the things we work on together have meaning. \r\n\r\nAs their librarian, I get to see how much it means to all our students to see themselves or their classes represented in the school news. Their little faces light up and they cheer when their classroom teacher or a classmate is interviewed or featured in a photo montage. Siblings get to see each other in a different light when BSN features them engaging in various activities. My students save their money they earn through different responsibilities such as keeping their desk clean, taking care of their pencils and returning their weekly mail folders each week. \r\n\r\nStudents have so much fun saving their money, shopping, and then making their purchases. All students must pretend to be a customer in a store, and then shop as if they were in a real store out in the public! My students add up their purchases and make their own change. Our school loves \"The Book With No Pictures\" so much that I can't keep any copies on the shelf. Once all the copies are gone they are requesting me to place holds faster than I can fill. When I told them somebody donated two brand new copies to our school their little faces just beamed with joy.\r\n\r\nI had my third grade classes specifically in mind when I created this project because most of them are at the stage in their literacy development where everything they've learned has become (or is rapidly becoming) a fluent process. In short, reading has become fun and not just work anymore. They come to the library looking for the books they loved hearing their classroom teachers, the school counselor, the principal, the gym teacher, the music teacher, and me read to them. Some of them are looking for books they remember hearing in preschool or a daycare program. Some of them are looking for the book their grandparent used to read to them or a book they loved at their previous elementary school. Knowing that my students are looking to reconnect with special memories by reading these stories on their own is what motivates me to try and provide those particular books for each of my 370 students. \r\n\r\nI so appreciate people who support school libraries like mine. Watching the future choose a path of lifelong learning with every book they become enamored with is a gift to me. When counting cars, each student has enjoyed the opportunity to move, park and count the cars. \r\n\r\nRobot building has been a life changer in our classroom. My students are engaged and eager to have time to build a new and innovative car. Their imagination runs wild as they build and create. The smile on all of their faces says it all! \r\n\r\nThe emotion cards and the early reading books have also made a huge impact within our classroom. My students love discussion and having the opportunity to learn new ways to identify sounds, blends and words within books. These books especially have piqued an interest in quite a few of my students to grab more books and dig right in. \r\n\r\nTo say thank you is never enough. But I hope each of you know how much of an impact you have made on such special students and their teachers.
