When the equipment arrived—soccer balls, bibs, cones, and technology tools—our students were thrilled. Their eyes lit up as we opened each box, and they immediately began brainstorming ways to use the materials to improve their skills and prepare for the cultural exchange. It was a powerful reminder of how sports can empower students to lead and collaborate.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our players now have the tools to engage more deeply with both the sport and one another. These connections are helping our students grow in empathy, curiosity, and global awareness.\r\n\r\nYour support made this meaningful experience possible, and we are deeply grateful. We have been getting to use the paints, crayons, and adaptive tools to explore art and build skills.\r\n\r\n In our Life Skills extension art class, we use the crayons to draw and then paint over with watercolors, experiment with paint dobbers and letter stencils, and have painted wooden sculptures with tempura paint. \r\n\r\nOne student in particular has benefited from the slant board. They were so excited by the opportunity to partake in this tradition of printed media, and I was astounded by the creative ways they visualized and connected their background knowledge of German language, history and culture to their artworks. Several students expressed that it had been a long time since they made any art at all, and while initially doubtful of their skills they were soon encouraging and complementing each other on their first drafts, and even sharing techniques they were developing themselves through trial and error. We did have to clean up quite a bit of ink from our tables throughout this process, but we all agreed the experience was worth the extra elbow grease! Students turned in one set of prints to hang in the hallway outside our classroom, and many students created extra copies to bring home or gift to friends.\r\n\r\nThanks to the resources provided by your donation, my students were able to connect their personal interests to the larger context of their German learning in a meaningful and memorable way. During our final gallery walk, students thoroughly (and in the target language) explained how each of their prints exemplified the influence of the gathering and dissemination of knowledge and the power of expressing one's opinion. As the world becomes increasingly connected through the nebulous internet, the physical media created by students reminds them of their impact in local communities. Students will be able to use the skills developed during this project to thoughtfully navigate the information they take in and feel empowered to express their own experiences and findings. With many of the materials being reusable and plenty of ink left over, this is a unit I will come back to again and again!","fullyFundedDate":1729787145417,"projectUrl":"project/influence-of-word-on-world-though-german/8864845/","projectTitle":"Influence of Word on World Though German Printmaking","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ruh","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9714453_orig.png?crop=1286,1286,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727904659698","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9714453"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_127503","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1474,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":9,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":85,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":127503,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Gallatin High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Gallatin High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/bozeman-school-district-7/gallatin-high-school/127503"}
