Sometimes cushions are used in regular seats for more padding against the hard, plastic classroom chairs, while other times they're used as floor cushions during station work. Having seating options gives choice and independence to sixth graders and allows them to be more comfortable while they work hard to focus and stay on task. \r\n\r\nIn addition to the cushions enhancing our seating options, they are so easy to clean and store. The handles on the end of the seat covers make it easy for students to pick the cushions up and put them back in the bins when they are done. Also, the slick cover is easy to wipe down as well. Sometimes students spill snacks on them or accidentally get playground wood chips and dirt on them and they are easy to wipe down with the Lysol wipes included in this project. \r\n\r\nAll in all, we are so grateful for your contribution to our classroom seating. The cozy cushions and Lysol wipes will be enjoyed this year and beyond. They couldn't believe we had so many fresh markers, colored pencils, glue sticks, and whiteboard tools for everyone to use. It was heartwarming to see how proud they felt to have access to the same materials as their classmates—no one had to worry about borrowing or going without.\r\n\r\nWe use these supplies every single day. My students rely on colorful markers and pencils for notetaking strategies that help them organize their thoughts and make connections while learning. The whiteboard markers and erasers have been especially helpful for spontaneous check-ins during lessons. When I need to quickly see who understands a concept, students can write their answers on the whiteboards, make mistakes, and revise without fear. This flexibility has encouraged them to take more risks and see mistakes as a natural part of learning.\r\n\r\nThanks to these resources, our classroom feels more prepared, engaged, and confident. Every student can start working right away, even if they've forgotten supplies, and that independence has transformed our daily routines. Your generosity made it possible for all my students to have what they need to learn and grow every day.","fullyFundedDate":1757011031031,"projectUrl":"project/bunch-o-basics/9482601/","projectTitle":"Bunch o' Basics!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Guttormson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9779305_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y131&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727299595641","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9779305"},{"teacherId":9744406,"projectId":9348281,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students have started learning use these new resources to deepen their learning and engagement. In the future, we will incorporate them into hands-on lessons and collaborative projects, allowing students to explore concepts more independently and with greater confidence. One especially meaningful moment was watching students work together to problem-solve and share ideas using the new materials—they were focused, curious, and genuinely excited to learn.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the reaction was immediate and joyful. Students were eager to explore them, asking thoughtful questions and jumping right into using them during our lessons. Several students commented on how the resources made learning feel more \"real\" and accessible, and I noticed an increase in participation from students who are usually more reserved. It was clear that having high-quality, updated tools made them feel valued and motivated.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these resources will continue to support our current lessons and upcoming projects by allowing students to build skills more deeply and apply what they've learned in meaningful ways. We'll be using them to extend our learning, reinforce key concepts, and encourage creativity and critical thinking. Your generous donations make a difference in classrooms all around. This year I have 6ML students who the ear buds will be used with. All 6 of of them are Spanish speaking students. Two of them speak no english. Ideally, these ear buds will work perfectly for them but I am still learning how to use them as a teacher. I have been running trials with my students who speak better english as I have been able to quickly communicate with them as to what is working and not working. I have a charging station set up in my classroom. Each ear bud is numbered and when students are finished they clean them and put them back into the charging case. That system seems to work well.\r\n\r\nThe students are really excited about the translating earbuds and it really motivates them to engage in the classroom. The ear buds are so technologically advance that the learning curve is steep for students and teachers but I am confident that we will get there. I have been watching every Youtube video and trying different modes to figure out what works best. Your support has made an immediate and meaningful difference in the way I'm able to organize and deliver instruction in my middle school math classroom. With the new organizational materials, I've been able to streamline classroom systems, reduce time lost to transitions, and keep both curriculum and student resources accessible and well-structured. These improvements have already boosted student engagement and allowed me to focus more energy on teaching and supporting my students.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful additions, thanks to your generosity, is the walking pad. This has been a game-changer for two students in particular who have movement needs written into their IEP/504 plans. Instead of being distracted by the struggle to stay seated, they can now engage in lessons while walking at their own pace — and it's made a remarkable difference in just the first few days. Their focus has improved, their anxiety has decreased, and they feel more empowered to take part in our classroom community. These seating options quickly became the most popular and most-used items in our learning space. As we rotated classrooms throughout the day, students consistently gravitated toward the flexible seats during independent work time. Whether it was a wobble stool, floor cushion, or a soft chair, these seating choices empowered my students to take ownership of their learning environment in ways that boosted both comfort and focus.\r\n\r\nI've witnessed firsthand how this simple change has made a significant difference—students who previously struggled to stay engaged during quiet work sessions now seem more at ease and motivated. The flexible seating options have helped create a classroom culture centered around student choice, collaboration, and productivity. Your support didn't just enhance our classroom—it transformed it.
