For the past several years, I have taught A Christmas Carol to my Honors English students before Christmas break. Since my only copies were online, it was a struggle to balance a manageable workload with who was present and who might be away and not have internet access. Having a class set of books will remove some of that pressure from reading this book.\r\n\r\nStudents really enjoy the story and end up loving the book. It's a great way for us to dig into how history influences writers. We can take that idea and apply it to both literary analysis and student writing, which creates even richer conversations about the story and shapes our future discussions.\r\n\r\nThis year, I had students complete creative projects after we read this novella, which they enjoyed immensely. I can't wait to see how next year turns out after students are able to take copies of the book home and take this wonderful story in. I hope you know how much your generosity has impacted my classroom and these bright young people.","fullyFundedDate":1767220518348,"projectUrl":"project/help-keep-my-kids-from-being-scrooges/9905147/","projectTitle":"Help Keep My Kids From Being Scrooges","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Berg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9307108"},{"teacherId":10283244,"projectId":9761749,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for generously contributing to our \"Books Back in Action\" project. These new sets of books will available to for check out to all students grades 7-12. These series have been well loved, so much so that the copies we had were falling apart. I immediately processed and displayed these new copies and students were so excited to see them and read them. \r\n\r\nMany students are seeing and reading these popular series for the first time, and lets face it they get excited about shiny new covers! The hard covers will hold up to students much better than our paper backs. Series are a wonderful way to engage readers to keep reading, anticipating what is coming next. \r\n\r\nThe repair supplies will be helpful in maintaining our current copies and keeping others in circulation as well. \r\n\r\nFinally, the new headphones will be a great resource for learners in the library who often come in to work on assignments and engage in online communities, keeping accessibility for all students whether or not they have their own headphones. \r\n\r\nIt is small improvements that can make a big impact.","fullyFundedDate":1762186415578,"projectUrl":"project/books-back-in-action-help-replace-and-r/9761749/","projectTitle":"Books Back in Action!
