Because of your kindness, our students now have access to new basketballs, soccer balls, hula hoops, bean bags, and deck rings. These resources have completely transformed the way we engage in class. As a K–5 program, I have the privilege of working with students across all grade levels, and this equipment allows me to adapt lessons so every student—from our youngest learners to our older students—can participate, grow, and succeed. We've already been using them in skill-building stations, small group games, and cooperative challenges. One memorable moment was during a rotation activity where students practiced dribbling basketballs, tossing bean bags for accuracy, and using hula hoops for agility drills—every student was active, smiling, and encouraging one another.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new equipment, their excitement was immediate and contagious. Many of them had never had the chance to use such a variety of quality equipment during PE, and they couldn't wait to get started. It created a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm, even among students who are sometimes hesitant to participate. The new materials have helped build confidence, teamwork, and a positive attitude toward physical activity.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are using these resources to support a unit focused on teamwork, coordination, and lifelong fitness skills. Students will continue developing their abilities through structured games and creative challenges, and we plan to incorporate more student-led activities where they design their own games using the equipment. The board games you provided are already fostering teamwork, critical thinking, and joy during our group activities. The basketball, football, and soccer balls have brought new energy to our recess and physical activity time, encouraging healthy movement and collaboration.\r\n\r\nI am especially appreciative of the standing desk, microphone, laminating paper, books, and computer stand. These items have enhanced both our learning environment and instructional quality. The standing desk supports flexible learning, the microphone helps ensure every student can hear clearly, and the laminating supplies allow us to preserve and reuse important materials. The new books are opening doors to imagination and discovery, while the computer stand helps create a more organized and effective workspace.\r\n\r\nYour kindness goes far beyond the items themselves—it shows our students that their education matters and that their community supports them. Before receiving these resources, we were limited in how we could structure our lessons—sharing worn equipment, modifying drills, and often sacrificing quality repetitions for the sake of inclusion. Now, every student has access to properly sized soccer balls, cones, and training tools, which has completely transformed how we run our units. We are currently using the equipment in a structured soccer skills progression, focusing on dribbling, passing, spacing, and small-sided gameplay. One moment that stood out happened during a recent 3v3 tournament-style activity. Because we had enough equipment to set up multiple small fields, all students were actively playing rather than waiting on the sidelines. I watched one student—who is typically hesitant to participate—confidently dribble through defenders and make a clean pass to a teammate for a goal. That kind of growth simply wasn't possible before when opportunities to practice were limited.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new equipment, their reaction was immediate and enthusiastic. There was a noticeable buzz of excitement as they realized we had enough gear for everyone to be involved at the same time. Several students asked if we were starting a \"real soccer unit,\" and their energy carried straight into the lesson. That excitement translated into effort—students were more willing to try new skills, push themselves physically, and support one another. Even students who don't typically gravitate toward soccer became more engaged because the structure of the class allowed them to be constantly involved. The sense of ownership also increased; because the equipment was new and plentiful, students took pride in using and taking care of it. It created an environment where participation wasn't just expected—it was something they genuinely wanted.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, this equipment allows us to build toward more advanced and meaningful learning experiences. Our next step is to transition from basic skill development into more strategic gameplay. Students will begin learning concepts like offensive spacing, defensive positioning, and decision-making under pressure. We are also planning a culminating \"World Cup\" style tournament where teams will represent different countries, develop simple strategies, and compete in organized matches. This not only reinforces physical skills but also brings in elements of teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship. Additionally, I plan to incorporate student leadership opportunities, where small groups design and lead warm-up drills or skill stations for their peers using the equipment provided. This helps deepen their understanding while building confidence and accountability.\r\n\r\nThis project has done more than just provide equipment—it has elevated the entire learning experience for my students. It has allowed me to teach the way I've always envisioned: with high engagement, meaningful repetition, and opportunities for every student to succeed. Your generosity has created a more inclusive, active, and positive environment where students are not only improving their physical skills but also building confidence and a love for movement. Thank you for making that possible.","fullyFundedDate":1768751561343,"projectUrl":"project/soccer-is-my-goal/10030984/","projectTitle":"Soccer is my Goal!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. David Kress","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8114130"},{"teacherId":9485897,"projectId":10010354,"letterContent":"I want to thank all those involved in helping to fulfill this Ðǿմ«Ã½ request. Instead of only reading or writing about a topic, students can create, design, and document their learning. For example, using a camera allows students to capture their projects and reflect on their progress, while a printer supports creative expression through art and design. These tools help students stay engaged, think critically, and take pride in their work.\r\nWhat excites students most about these new tools is the opportunity to be creative and independent. Flexible seating gives them choice and comfort, which helps them stay focused longer. The addition of tools like a hot glue gun and easy access to printed materials makes projects feel more real and professional—students love being able to bring their ideas to life in tangible ways.\r\nSeveral students who typically struggle with traditional instruction have especially thrived with these additions. Hands-on learners, in particular, have become more confident and motivated when given the chance to build, create, and move around the classroom. From the moment they were introduced, they immediately became a favorite. The students are constantly moving them from the round table in the corner over to their own desks, hoping to be the next one to use them. It has almost turned into a friendly competition at times, with everyone eager for a turn. If only I could get my hands on an entire class set at some point, haha! I truly believe every student would benefit from having one throughout the day.\r\n\r\nWhat I've noticed most is how much these chairs help students manage their energy. Many of my students have a hard time sitting still for long periods, which can make it challenging for them to stay focused during lessons. The wobble chairs give them a safe and appropriate outlet for that extra movement. Instead of fidgeting in ways that can be distracting, they are able to gently move while still staying engaged with their work.\r\n\r\nIt has been especially helpful during writing time and direct instruction. Students who typically struggle to focus are more attentive and able to complete their assignments with fewer reminders. I've seen an increase in productivity, as well as a noticeable improvement in their ability to listen and participate in discussions. The movement seems to support their learning rather than take away from it, which has been wonderful to observe.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the wobble chairs have also contributed to a more positive classroom environment. Students are excited about using them, and that excitement carries over into their attitude toward learning. They feel more comfortable, more in control of their bodies, and more ready to participate. It's such a simple tool, but it has had a meaningful impact on both engagement and behavior.\r\n\r\nI am so grateful to have had the opportunity to bring wobble chairs into my classroom.
