And, in each class, that set off at least one of my rule followers to start reviewing where we CAN put the stickers and where we CANNOT put the stickers. CAN: on our hand, on our paper, on our shirt. CANNOT: on our face, and especially not on our eyes, on the table and on the Library Books. We also have welcomed at least 6 new Kindergarteners since we ran out. Our Library Letters are on the blue papers and greet our new students as they come to Library for the first time. Recently, I used a ream to print off the Nevada Reading Week T-Shirt order forms! Both the green and blue have been used for one set of poems we annotated. With those lessons, we also talked about how we are as life-long learners - which color was better for us? Why? When we used different writing utensils, which did we like with each color? What did not work? Why? I also used the two colors for printing off research pages from two different database sources that we annotated. The kids LOVED seeing them on the tables as they walked in. Much more inspiring than plain old white paper!! The kids faces lit up with joy once they saw a new shipment arrive. While the items I chose for this project were simple, it made a tremendous difference in the classroom. \r\n\r\nOut of all the materials that were purchased, the Expo markers were the class favorite. In our class the kids are allowed to write on the table with their marker to show their work during math. The kids expressed that using the markers on the table made them feel motivated to get their work done. Having the spheres in each of our classrooms has already shown to be very helpful in regulating student's emotions, which then in turn helps them to refocus and continue learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the students see the breathing spheres, many get excited stating that they have seen them before. When I ask, have you ever been shown how to use it to help us calm down, they look amazed. I demonstrate the technique and within minutes the student is using the breathing sphere as a tool to help them calm down. We even have students who are upset asking for the sphere to help them. It has been a game changer across our school, and we are so incredible thankful to donors like you who help support our students and our school.
