As usual, their creativity has knocked my socks off. I am so grateful to have the means to give them these sorts of experiences. Almost every day I have a student asking if we're going to work with clay again soon.\r\n\r\nIn my fourth grade classes, we just finished a project inspired by the great Post-Impressionist artist Paul Cézanne. We created a still life of a piece of fruit out of clay and then used tempera paint to make it look like something Cézanne would have done. Then, to help the students learn about light and shadow, we added highlights and shadows using chalk pastels.\r\n\r\nMy kindergarteners were thrilled with the pinch pot critter project that we did. Students had the choice of making a cat, mouse, or bird sculpture out of Model Magic clay using the pinch pot technique. They then used markers to color their sculptures and give their little critters loads of personality.\r\n\r\nMy sixth graders are in the middle of creating a relief tile using air-dry clay. They chose a freshwater animal, such as a fish or frog, researched it and its habitat, and used their research to design their tile. This project builds on their research and reading skills, develops their eye for details, and teaches them about relief sculpture, which is sculpture raised up from a two-dimensional surface. They use sculpting, scoring, and coil techniques as they construct their piece.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your kind support. You have enriched my students' experience immensely with your donation. Thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1754491618620,"projectUrl":"project/clay-clay-clay/9507283/","projectTitle":"Clay ... Clay ... The document camera your funds purchased has had a huge impact on my art classes, giving students the chance to see, step-by-step, how our projects are created. With the camera, I can show how to use specific techniques or create specific details that students otherwise either couldn't see. I've noted significant growth in the quality of the artwork my students are producing, their confidence in approaching projects, and their creativity in completing them.\r\n\r\nJust today, in one of my fifth grade classes, one of my students who usually puts the minimum effort required into a project came alive. He was excited because we were drawing video game controllers, and he had a clear idea of what he wanted to accomplish. Because of the document camera, he could clearly see the example piece that I had made and use it as a springboard for his own work, adding specific details that I was able to demonstrate as well as coming up with a few of his own. It was wonderful to see his smile and the pride he was feeling in his work.\r\n\r\nThings were a lot more difficult before the document camera. It has changed the dynamic of my classrooms and become an indispensable tool for my lessons. I truly appreciate your generosity and hope that this note gives you some idea of the impact your donations have had on my students' lives.","fullyFundedDate":1735584557553,"projectUrl":"project/an-art-room-with-a-view/8963602/","projectTitle":"An Art Room with a View","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Allen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9846250_orig.jpg?crop=1834,1834,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732580787827","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9846250"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83045","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":64,"numTeachers":7,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"9.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":72.2,"schoolId":83045,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pioche Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Pioche Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/lincoln-public-schools/pioche-elementary-school/83045"}
