It is a gentle start in our classroom as emotions were high during their first days. \r\n\r\nI also passed around our weighted sloth friend while they shared their experience from the first weeks at school. All students from Kinder to 5th loved and wanted to cuddle with him. \r\n\r\nI keep our lights low, and the string lights set a calming mood in the room as we discuss ways to regulate our emotions throughout the school day and in different situations. \r\nThe positive bulletin boards add to the mood in my classroom. It provides them something physical to release any nervous energy.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for the kindness by sponsoring this project.","fullyFundedDate":1746786433253,"projectUrl":"project/the-serenity-space/9113855/","projectTitle":"The Serenity Space","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Montejano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9352208_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1704761757955","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9352208"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_83120","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":236,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":69,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"8.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":55.1,"schoolId":83120,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Veterans Memorial Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Veterans Memorial Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/washoe-county-school-district/veterans-memorial-elementary-school/83120"}
