They love moving between centers, choosing where to start, and discovering what each new challenge brings. The excitement is immediate—students are eager to engage, curious about what's new, and motivated to participate. Each week feels fresh, and that sense of novelty keeps learning joyful and meaningful.\r\nWhat has been especially powerful is how each student connects with the centers in their own way. Every student has a preferred center based on their strengths, interests, and learning style. Some gravitate toward hands‑on problem‑solving, while others shine in more structured or sensory‑based activities. Watching them recognize their strengths and advocate for what they enjoy has been incredibly rewarding.\r\nSometimes, choosing which center to bring out first even becomes a negotiation, which is a huge milestone. These moments create natural opportunities for communication, flexibility, and social interaction—skills that don't always come easily but are developing beautifully through this project.\r\nThis project has turned learning into an experience my students look forward to. The rotating centers encourage independence, confidence, and engagement, while honoring each student's unique abilities. Seeing their excitement, focus, and pride as they explore each new challenge is a powerful reminder of how impactful the right resources can be.","fullyFundedDate":1766786322880,"projectUrl":"project/strong-bodies-happy-hearts-lasting-mem/9829098/","projectTitle":"Strong Bodies, Happy Hearts, Lasting Memories","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mertz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9030124_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683671072278","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9030124"},{"teacherId":9030124,"projectId":9990975,"letterContent":"We have been using the new resources during our small group instruction time, where students are able to engage more directly with hands-on activities. One special moment that stood out was seeing students independently explore the materials, staying engaged and curious while practicing important skills. It has been wonderful to watch them build confidence as they interact with the resources in a structured, supportive setting.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were so excited to use them! Their enthusiasm was immediate, and they were eager to jump in and explore, which helped create a very positive and motivating learning environment.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps are to continue embedding these materials more intentionally into our curriculum so they can be used even more effectively next year. Currently, we are using them primarily in small group settings with support, but our goal is for students to begin using them more independently during center time. We are focusing on increasing their attention span during activities and deepening their understanding of each center so they can engage more meaningfully and independently over time.","fullyFundedDate":1768178065859,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-minds-with-letters-numbers-an/9990975/","projectTitle":"Engaging Minds with Letters, Numbers, and Fun","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mertz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9030124_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683671072278","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9030124"},{"teacherId":9030124,"projectId":9263899,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our Pre-K STRATES classroom has become a more supportive and engaging space for students who are non-verbal and learning how to interact with others. These materials are used daily to help students build communication, social skills, and independence through play and hands-on exploration. The soft floor mats, foam blocks, and sensory materials have created safe areas where students can sit together, take turns, and engage alongside peers. One powerful moment was watching two students independently sit side-by-side while building with blocks—sharing space, exchanging smiles, and remaining engaged longer than ever before.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their reactions were immediate and joyful. Many explored the items with curiosity, touching, stacking, and experimenting in their own ways. The puzzles, magnetic activities, and fine-motor tools quickly became favorites, helping students practice focus, choice-making, and problem-solving. The rotating bookshelf and new board books encouraged students to independently approach books, point to pictures, and sit with peers during story time—an important step in social development for our learners.\r\n\r\nYour support has also helped create a calmer, more organized environment. The classroom organization tools allow materials to be clearly labeled and consistently placed, which is essential for our students who rely on routine and visual structure. This consistency helps reduce anxiety and increases student engagement and participation throughout the day.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue building early social skills such as turn-taking, shared attention, and peer awareness during structured play and group activities. We are focusing on communication through gestures, visuals, and assisted communication, and these resources allow students to practice these skills in meaningful, motivating ways. Because of you, our students are developing confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging in their classroom. We are deeply grateful for your support and belief in our learners. 💙","fullyFundedDate":1746785978872,"projectUrl":"project/learning-through-every-lens/9263899/","projectTitle":"Learning Through Every Lens","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mertz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9030124_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1683671072278","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9030124"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_133792","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":41,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":133792,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Washoe County Early Childhood Education Strategies on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Washoe County Early Childhood Education Strategies","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/washoe-county-school-district/washoe-county-early-childhood-education-strategies/133792"}
