These students come straight to my room as soon as they arrive from their home countries. Many are nervous, unsure, and overwhelmed. The hands on tools you provided, including dry erase boards, magnetic materials, sentence building resources, and classroom organization tools, help ease that transition by creating a calm, structured environment where students feel comfortable trying, making mistakes, and learning.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their faces lit up. They were excited to use the whiteboards, interact with the magnetic tools, and earn turns on the prize wheel, which quickly became a joyful motivator for effort and participation. Being able to write, erase, and try again has helped reduce fear and build confidence, especially for students who are still finding their voice in English. These moments of small smiles, raised hands, and quiet pride are powerful for students who are adjusting to a completely new life.\r\n\r\nRight now, these materials are supporting our project, Our Community Voices, where students interview members of the community in English and share short oral and visual presentations. The whiteboards and magnets help students organize their thoughts and practice speaking in small groups before sharing with others. Your support has done more than provide supplies. It has helped create a space where students feel seen, supported, and brave enough to speak. Thank you for making a lasting difference for students during one of the most challenging transitions of their lives.","fullyFundedDate":1758315288155,"projectUrl":"project/tigers-speak-many-languages/9617567/","projectTitle":"Tigers Speak Many Languages","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. M O'Hagan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10185609_orig.jpg?crop=1536,1536,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755969866714","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10185609"},{"teacherId":10185514,"projectId":9617486,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the rolling desk, paper organizer, snacks, and headphones you donated to our 8th‑grade classroom. These items have already changed how students learn: the rolling desk allows me to project information from my computer, (using my document camera) onto our smartboard, the paper organizer keeps paper organized by type and color for students to have easy access, and the headphones allow focused listening during multimedia lessons and independent reading. The snacks have been a simple but powerful support—students who arrive hungry can concentrate and participate fully.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies arrived, students were thrilled and immediately began using them. One student who usually struggles with sustained reading used the headphones to listen to an audiobook for 25 uninterrupted minutes—the longest stretch she's managed this term—and then excitedly selected another book. Your generosity has helped my students feel not only more successful, but also more comfortable by addressing some of their basic needs.","fullyFundedDate":1755727245331,"projectUrl":"project/feeding-bellies-and-minds/9617486/","projectTitle":"Feeding Bellies and Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kristiansen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10185514_orig.png?crop=486,486,x0,y6&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755520407635","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10185514"},{"teacherId":9690995,"projectId":8957728,"letterContent":"Thanks to your support, our classroom is more organized, focused, and ready for learning than ever. Along with folders, pencils, glue sticks, and headphones, the rulers have been a great addition—especially during Science lessons and hands-on projects. Many of my students struggle with spatial awareness, so having their own rulers helps them follow along more accurately and boosts their confidence in completing assignments. It's a small tool, but one that gives them more independence and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting additions has been the laminating machine. We're now able to preserve student work, classroom visuals, and learning tools so they last much longer. My students love seeing their projects \"made official\" by being laminated—it gives their work a sense of importance and ownership. We've also started creating reusable learning materials, like vocabulary flashcards and behavior charts, which saves time and keeps things durable and clean.\r\n\r\nAnother big impact has come from the prize box. Since introducing it, classroom behavior has noticeably improved. Students are more motivated to follow rules, stay on task, and support one another because they know their efforts are recognized and rewarded. This positive reinforcement has helped create a more focused, respectful learning environment where everyone can do their best.
