Before, anchors would glance down at scripts on the desk, breaking eye contact with viewers and looking less confident than they actually were. Now, with the teleprompter positioned right at camera level, they're looking directly into the lens—directly at their audience—and you can see the difference in their body language. They stand taller. They speak with more authority. The professional lighting means they look as polished as the news anchors they grew up watching, and that visual upgrade has translated into genuine pride in their work. When students see themselves looking professional on screen, they start to believe they are professionals. What's been most exciting isn't just how good the broadcast looks—it's how many new roles students can now take on. Operating a teleprompter requires someone to pace the script perfectly with the anchor's delivery. That's a real skill, and students are competing for that job. The lighting setup needs adjusting based on who's on camera and what the shot requires. Suddenly, kids who might not want to be in front of the camera have found technical roles where they're essential to the production.\r\n\r\nOne of my quieter students, who would never volunteer to anchor, has become our go-to lighting technician and takes that responsibility incredibly seriously. I've also noticed something unexpected: students are writing better scripts. When they know they'll be reading off a teleprompter while looking straight into the camera, they're more thoughtful about their word choices and pacing. They understand they can't just wing it or rely on glancing down to find their place. The equipment isn't just making the broadcast look better—it's making my students think more carefully about every aspect of production. That's the kind of learning that stays with them long after they leave my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1755724550620,"projectUrl":"project/finding-our-voices-through-video-product/9517011/","projectTitle":"Finding Our Voices Through Video Production","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10101118_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755732287094","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10101118"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81454","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1190,"numTeachers":93,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":16,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":37,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.7,"schoolId":81454,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lawrence High School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Lawrence High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/lawrence-township-public-schools/lawrence-high-school/81454"}
