They've used their hand eye coordination to track the ball and then move their body to the ball for their next strike. Even more 2nd graders paired up and played keep it up in pairs. They were being cooperative and they were bumping and forearm passing back and forth. It was a cooperative activity because they worked together to record their # of bumps with the ball touching the ground. Additionally, our 3rd - 5th graders warmed up in pairs and practice both their forearm bump as well as the overhead set or pass. Then they played mini volleyball and/or volleyball 4-square,\r\nWhen my students saw these oversized volleyball they smiled with excitement in their eyes, saying, \"Oh, we are going to use those today,\" Furthermore, our students work on hand striking early in the school year because this unit fits well there. Kindergarten students have more success striking a ball with their hands than catching and throwing a ball. Kindergarten students have more success striking a ball with their hands than catching and throwing a ball. Many students were intrinsically motivated to achieve their goals because Gymnastics provided them a variety of movements. Students find these activities and lessons special because it takes this special equipment to allow them to complete many of these tasks, and it helped that it was a newness and uniqueness that makes the students feel extra special.
