Your generosity has given my junior high students access to tools that allow them to discover how design, manufacturing, transportation, and computer science intersect in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the Glowforge materials and drone kits, their excitement was immediate but more importantly, so was their curiosity. In our Discoveries calssroom, students are exploring careers in computer science and coding, learning how transportation including drones are used to solve real-world and humanitarian problems, and coding microbit CuteBots as an introduction to manufacturing and a way to strengthen their programming skills. The addition of the drone kits will help students see coding not as an isolated skill, but as a powerful tool for innovation.\r\n\r\nOur next steps will be for students to design and fabricate custom drone components using our laser cutter, test and revise their ideas, and program the drones. Because of you, my students are not just learning about technology, they are discovering their own potential and beginning to see how what they create in our classroom can connect to future opportunities in manufacturing, IT, transportation, and even design. Thank you for helping make those discoveries possible.","fullyFundedDate":1762265360506,"projectUrl":"project/forging-futures-laser-cut-designs-for-c/9647919/","projectTitle":"Forging Futures: Laser-Cut Designs for Career-Ready Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Phillips","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6106729_orig.jpg?crop=1991,1991,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1649714164076","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/heatherphillips115"},{"teacherId":5786474,"projectId":9985907,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our guitar students through your generous contribution to this project. Because of your kindness, our students now have access to essential tools like quality guitar picks, reliable tuners, and new music books that will truly enhance their learning experience.\r\n\r\nHaving the right materials makes a bigger difference than many people realize. With their own picks, students can focus on developing proper technique and producing a strong, confident sound. Tuners help them build critical listening skills and understand the importance of playing in tune, which strengthens both individual practice and group performance. Replacing worn-out, falling-apart books ensures that students can clearly read their music, stay organized, and feel proud of the materials they use every day.\r\n\r\nYour support removes barriers and allows students to concentrate on what really matters — making music, building skills, and growing in confidence. Many of our students would not have access to these supplies on their own, and your donation helps create a more equitable and successful learning environment for everyone in our program.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your generosity sends a powerful message to our students: that their education, creativity, and hard work matter. Knowing that people beyond our classroom believe in them is incredibly motivating and inspiring.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of all of our guitar students, thank you for investing in their musical journey. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our recent reed restock project. Because of your kindness and willingness to invest in our students, our woodwind musicians now have access to the high-quality reeds they need to be successful. Your contribution is making a real and lasting difference in our band program, and I want you to know just how meaningful your support truly is.\r\n\r\nReeds may be small, but they play an enormous role in the success of young musicians. For students who play clarinet and saxophone, the reed is what allows them to create sound in the first place. A quality reed helps produce a clear tone, respond more easily, and support proper playing technique. When students struggle with worn-out, inconsistent, or low-quality reeds, it can be frustrating and discouraging. Notes may squeak, tone can sound thin or unfocused, and students often feel like they are failing — even when they are working hard and doing their best.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our students no longer have to face those unnecessary obstacles. With reliable, high-quality reeds, they can focus on learning, improving, and enjoying music-making instead of battling their equipment. That shift makes a huge difference, especially for beginners and developing players who are still building confidence. When students experience success in how they sound, they are more motivated to practice, participate, and stick with band long-term.\r\n\r\nYour donation also helps create equity within our program. Not every family is able to regularly purchase new reeds, even though they wear out and need frequent replacement. By helping us keep a supply on hand, you are ensuring that every student — regardless of financial situation — has access to the tools they need to succeed. That kind of support builds not only stronger musicians, but also a stronger, more inclusive program where every child feels valued and capable.\r\n\r\nBeyond individual improvement, your generosity will be heard in the full ensemble sound of our band. Better reeds mean better tone, improved tuning, and more confident playing across entire sections. That translates directly to more successful rehearsals and more polished performances. When our students step on stage for concerts and events, they will be performing with greater confidence and pride because of the resources you helped provide.\r\n\r\nPerhaps most importantly, your support shows our students that people beyond their school walls believe in them. Knowing that others care about their growth and are willing to invest in their education is incredibly powerful. It reinforces that their hard work matters and that the arts are valued. Those lessons extend far beyond the band room.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity, your belief in music education, and your commitment to helping students thrive. We are deeply grateful for your support, and our woodwind players will benefit from your kindness every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1765995434314,"projectUrl":"project/reed-restock/9963253/","projectTitle":"Reed Restock","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fraley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5786474_orig.png?crop=954,954,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692203484341","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/shsfrayfray"},{"teacherId":5786474,"projectId":9965452,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our students are already putting these new resources to great use in class every single day. With reliable equipment now available, students who previously had to sit out or rotate limited supplies are fully participating in rehearsals. One special moment happened during a recent full-band run-through when our low brass section was able to play confidently and comfortably the entire rehearsal. Instead of adjusting equipment or struggling with setup, they were focused on tone, balance, and blending with the ensemble — and the improvement in our overall sound was immediate.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their reactions ranged from excited to relieved. Several students couldn't wait to try everything out, and a few were especially grateful simply to have equipment that worked the way it should. It was clear they felt supported and valued, knowing that people they've never met care about their success.\r\n\r\nNext, we are building on this momentum as we prepare new music for upcoming performances. Students are setting section goals, refining technique, and working toward a more polished ensemble sound. Having dependable resources means we can spend more time on musical expression and teamwork instead of problem-solving equipment issues. Your support is helping us move forward with confidence and creativity.\r\n\r\nThank you for being an important part of our classroom and for making a lasting difference for our student musicians.","fullyFundedDate":1766235772956,"projectUrl":"project/sousational-items-needed/9965452/","projectTitle":"Sousational Items Needed!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fraley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5786474_orig.png?crop=954,954,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692203484341","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/shsfrayfray"},{"teacherId":9846140,"projectId":9881808,"letterContent":"The students are using the cutting mats for their exacto knife work on the ship a chip challenge. It can be a challenge at times to get students engaged in their classwork. This is my first year teaching Life Skills to 7th and 8th grade students and I have been working on a curriculum that will be interesting for them and promote engagement. Despite my best efforts, I felt like there was something missing in my lessons. Upon reflection, I decided that students needed to have a more personalized connection to the important skills we were learning in Life Skills. To help students develop a more personal relationship to the subject matter, I opted to incorporate hands-on crafts to my lessons to round out the students' experience.\r\nIncorporating crafts on a regular basis to a curriculum is not a task that is entered into lightly. My biggest obstacle was how to pay for all the necessary supplies for the crafts ideas I was able to find. Your donation to my project on Donors Choose made incorporating personalized crafts for my students a reality, rather than a pipe dream. The process of using Donors Choose to find and order the supplies I needed was quick and seamless. My students did not have to wait long for the supplies to begin arriving in my classroom. It was a delight to watch my students get excited about each delivery, guessing what we would be making.\r\nIncorporating personalized crafts in my lessons broadened the impact and importance of the topics we cover. When I asked my first semester students to write letters to my second semester explaining Life Skills, completing the various projects featured in many student letters:\r\nThis is the best class you will have all year. We do fun activities, listen to fun stories, and do fun things.\r\nThis class is my favorite. I look forward to this class everyday.\r\nYou learn about emotions and just things to get you through life. But you do fun things like art.\r\nWe do work, but it is fun and she (Dr. Putt) does it in the most fun way.\r\nIt is so fun in here. We do a lot of projects, reading books, and having fun.\r\nWe sometimes do fun little art projects. We use paint, glitter glue, and all sorts of stuff.\r\nYou will do a lot of projects with her.\r\nStudents made feelings journals, friendship bracelets, apple print art, forgiveness boxes, and art projects related to the children's literature we used in class. Project days were a big hit every week! Students were able to take concepts that were often abstract, like feelings and emotions, and create concrete projects to help them make significant connections.","fullyFundedDate":1760902429839,"projectUrl":"project/personalized-craft-materials/9710857/","projectTitle":"Personalized Craft Materials","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Putt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5777527_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727378571565","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5777527"},{"teacherId":5107476,"projectId":9192242,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity and support of our makerspace classroom.
