Incorporating crafts and sensory bins has transformed our sessions into experiences students eagerly anticipate. The use of bright cardstock, colorful papers, and visually appealing materials immediately captures their attention and motivates them to participate. These activities create a fun, low-pressure environment where students are more willing to practice their speech sounds, expand vocabulary, and work toward language goals while staying focused for the entire session.\r\nFor example, during our Halloween sensory bin activity, students followed colorful \"recipe cards\" printed on cardstock and searched through the bin to find objects that matched their cards. This activity seamlessly targeted speech sounds, vocabulary, and expressive language, while the sensory element kept students fully engaged. Similarly, decorating gingerbread houses printed on cardstock with colorful cereal pieces allowed students to practice their individual speech targets in a playful, meaningful way. Holiday bingo with brightly printed cards further reinforced language skills while encouraging turn-taking and social interaction.\r\nMore recently, our arctic unit has been a student favorite. I filled a sensory bin with cold, fake snow and hid arctic animals printed in color on durable cardstock. Students took turns digging in the snow, finding an animal, matching it to their speech target, and practicing it multiple times. This was followed by an interactive scavenger hunt using colorfully printed animals hidden around the room, where students practiced positional language such as \"on top of,\" \"under,\" and \"next to.\" These engaging, multi-sensory activities have not only increased student participation but have also led to higher motivation, improved attention, and more meaningful progress toward their speech and language goals. We have thoroughly enjoyed using our new materials and are very appreciative of your generousity!","fullyFundedDate":1761062143593,"projectUrl":"project/print-color-communicate/9620355/","projectTitle":"Print, Color, Communicate!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mansel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6828613"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_54964","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":426,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":5,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"2 - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.2,"schoolId":54964,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cache Intermediate School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Cache Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/cache-public-schools/cache-intermediate-school/54964"}
