I work with students who have a wide range of abilities and needs, including articulation, social skills, receptive and expressive language, and fluency. Having access to a variety of supplies is essential for tailoring therapy to individual goals, learning styles, and levels of support. The materials from this project helped me create flexible, engaging lessons that support communication growth across all areas.\r\n\r\nThanks to the generous donation from donors like you, I was able to use pens, tape, and paper to create individualized visual supports, data-tracking tools, and interactive learning materials. These resources are used daily to support articulation practice, build expressive and receptive language skills, target social communication through role-play and visuals, and support fluency through structured and engaging activities. Hands-on manipulatives allow students to learn through play, movement, and creativity, making therapy sessions more meaningful and accessible for every learner.\r\n\r\nOne specific moment that stood out was when students used newly created visuals and interactive materials during therapy activities. Students were eager to participate, excited to make choices, and proud to use materials that felt personalized just for them. When they first saw the supplies, many students were visibly excited and curious, asking what we would be making and how they could use them. That excitement translated into increased motivation, engagement, and confidence during therapy sessions.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these materials will continue to support ongoing lessons focused on building communication independence. Students will use visuals and interactive tools to practice skills they can carry over into the classroom and daily routines, such as requesting help, participating in conversations, and expressing their thoughts clearly. The flexibility of these resources ensures that therapy can continue to evolve alongside each student's progress. This project helped create a positive, supportive environment where students feel encouraged to grow both emotionally and communicatively, and it has had a lasting impact on my classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1761678533097,"projectUrl":"project/speech-therapy-supplies/9805659/","projectTitle":"Speech Therapy Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8305884_orig.jpg?crop=1074,1074,x237,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1643741915173","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8305884"},{"teacherId":10229539,"projectId":9832883,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support of our classroom. Because of your kindness, we have successfully acquired new sets of counting blocks and calculators for our students. These aren't just tools; they are the building blocks of confidence for my learners. In a world where math can often feel abstract and intimidating, having high-quality, tactile resources allows my students to visualize complex problems and engage with the curriculum in a hands-on, meaningful way.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your gift is already visible in the excitement my students show during our math blocks. The counting blocks have become essential for our younger learners to master foundational arithmetic, while the calculators are empowering our older students to tackle more advanced problem-solving with accuracy. Your investment in our classroom does more than just provide supplies—it tells my students that their education is valued by their community. They are not having to \"provide\" those things for themselves, since that can be such a burden to some households. Being able to provide those necessities for them, takes pressure off of them and their families and it allows for a smooth day in my class because everyone has access to the materials that they need. \r\n\r\nThere were a few items that were directed towards me, like the box organizers. This is going to be so helpful when I am out on leave for myself and my sub. I have been able to organize everything that is needed in this organizer and it has made knowing what is done and what is not so much easier. I do believe it will also provide my sub with an easy and smooth transition into my classroom.\r\n\r\nHaving these items (what might seem basic to some) in my classroom has been a HUGE blessing and weight lifted! For many of them, this was their first experience using professional equipment—and they took to it with excitement and dedication. From capturing candid classroom moments to staging group portraits, they developed an eye for detail and a deeper understanding of how visual storytelling preserves memories.\r\n\r\nBeyond the yearbook, the cameras became a vehicle for learning the fundamentals of photography—composition, lighting, angles, and editing. Students who once struggled to find their voice discovered new confidence behind the lens. They learned to see the world differently, paying attention to the small moments that make up our everyday lives. One student even shared, \"I never thought I'd be good at anything like this, but now I think I want to be a photographer.\"\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, this project gave students not only technical skills, but also a sense of pride and ownership. They produced something lasting and meaningful that will be shared and remembered for years to come.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students and myself, thank you for providing the tools that made this possible.
