I had been working with my students to help them do two things: build a chapter book a week reading habit and expand their reading into new genres to help increase their vocabulary. This collection introduced them to several new book series that they became excited about. During our independent reading time when students read books of their choice, visitors to our classroom can see multiple students enjoying these new books on any given day. \r\n\r\nOne of my students who spent the first portion of the year reading humorous books jumped into the Who Is? biographies when he recognized a few of the athletes in the books. Now he's continuing to read more biographies about other people in history and has expanded the genres he knows. \r\n\r\nAnother student started reading the Ellray Jakes book series and came to me multiple times saying how this book series was perfect for her and how much she loved the books. This student started off the year reading mostly familiar books at a second grade level. Now she's been reading more than one chapter a week and has grown so much as a reader that she can often be found with her nose buried in a book. She also read both Wild Robot books and continues to try other new books in different genres from this collection. \r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for this gift of books that your donation made possible. It helped my students as they build a lifetime love of reading and will continue to have a positive impact on my 3rd grade students next year as well.","fullyFundedDate":1740850829587,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-books-to-inspire-readers/9131369/","projectTitle":"Engaging Books to Inspire Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kerrin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9849337_orig.png?crop=256,256,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733012008069","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9849337"},{"teacherId":2355980,"projectId":9210886,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for your donation of headphones with updated plugins.
