That equates to about 450 students. It's a very busy place, but I really do have the most fun job in the school. It was made more fun when I was able to tell all the classes about how I created a Donors Choose project to get more dragon books for the library. I told them about how I wondered if it would be funded, only to wake up to an email that the author of the Dragon Masters books donated money for us to get books. You would not believe the excitement. It was almost like you were here yourself. Students are still talking about it and as a result, more students are checking out Dragon Masters books.\r\nThe student who was most excited is a 5th grade boy. He is in Title (which is extra reading help) and is not the kind of kid who is usually excited about reading. I told him at recess that we were getting the books, and he yelled \"Let's Go!\" and ran around the playground. He was going through the books so quickly, he would come to the library every other day to check out the next two books. He has read all the books that are published and is excited for the next one.\r\nThank you so much for supporting our library. Thank you for writing books that kids love.","fullyFundedDate":1763645861006,"projectUrl":"project/dragons-in-the-library/9848721/","projectTitle":"Dragons in the Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Leslie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9766958_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727729584639","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9766958"},{"teacherId":9885223,"projectId":9024192,"letterContent":"When I first saw that people had given to my project, I was so surprised and thrilled. It really showed how much complete strangers care about students in schools. The kids were interested in knowing how the printer worked and what I would use it for. They helped me set it up and used the empty box during recess to make a little house. Kids love empty boxes, but love what is inside even more. \r\n\r\nOne activity my kids won't let me forget is our Daily Intention Cards that I printed with the printer, ink, and cardstock that you gave for our students. I printed out colored daily intention cards that they read and then tried to practice each day. Another way your donation helped our students is the beautiful interactive bulletin board the kids can use daily. There are shout outs that kids can fill out, and then they get read during our morning announcements. \r\n\r\nAnother way your donation has helped has been in making my job easier to implement, which in turn, makes my job less stressful, and makes more time for me to spend helping students, and less time preparing materials. I can print out a last minute lesson idea in color, or print in advance when I know what needs to be printed in advance. And the colored printer makes everything so much more appealing and eye- catching. \r\n\r\nThank you from the bottom of our hearts! Thank you for the opportunity to support our kids in their love of learning- learning social-emotional skills- the skills they will use for a life-time!","fullyFundedDate":1739211526711,"projectUrl":"project/increase-k-4-students-learning-with-bri/9024192/","projectTitle":"Increase K-4 Student's Learning with Brilliantly Colored Visuals","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Foytek, MV K-4 School Counselor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9885223_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735935676609","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9885223"},{"teacherId":2768183,"projectId":9018065,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping out our 5th grade classroom. My current class is very interested in science! Earlier in the year, I asked my students if they ever had the opportunity to look through a real microscope. I was shocked that only two students had used a microscope! Most had only looked through a hand lens.\r\nOnly having one microscope in the classroom is not ideal; however, we can project the lens to my document camera for all to see. I've also designated a scientist of the day and they get to look through the different slides during free time. Students cannot wait until it is their turn!\r\nThank you for funding not only the microscope, but the additional slides that students can zoom in on. The human blood smear and dog esophagus are their favorite! Science seems to be on the backburner in our district, which is frustrating. Thank you for helping students find a love for science and giving them a hands-on experience that will hopefully help them to continue exploring more science topics. \r\nI have been an educator for twenty-five years and work in a district that lacks funding. Teachers make due with what they have or spend their own money for supplies for their classroom. I filled out the Donors Choose application not expecting anything to come out of it.
