Several students immediately asked questions about how it would work and were assured that the pantry is here for anyone who needs it, no explanations required.\r\n\r\nWe are using these snacks to support students in simple but meaningful ways. When a student comes in having a hard morning, hasn't eaten, or is struggling to focus they now have somewhere to turn. Instead of trying to push through hunger or embarrassment they can quietly grab a snack and get back to learning. There is no spotlight, no awkward moment, just care and dignity.\r\n\r\nI have already seen the impact. A student who was withdrawn and frustrated earlier in the day was able to reset after grabbing something to eat. Another shared that they hadn't had breakfast and felt grateful knowing there was an option here, without being lectured. Small moments like these ripple, improving focus, behavior, and confidence.\r\n\r\nYour donation has helped create a school culture where basic needs are acknowledged and supported. When students are not distracted by hunger they can participate more fully, collaborate more positively, and engage more deeply in their learning.\r\n\r\nWe will continue building awareness so students know this resource is always available. We are working to normalize using the pantry so that it feels as natural as borrowing a pencil. My goal is for every student to know that this is a safe, supportive space where their needs matter.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us care for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1763498721465,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-for-success-fueling-minds-and-bo/9857409/","projectTitle":"Snacks for Success: Fueling Minds and Bodies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Matthews","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8974741_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705546427521","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8974741"},{"teacherId":8974721,"projectId":9261936,"letterContent":"My entire class was able to read eleven novels this year and that is amazing! We were even able to brainstorm, write, illustrate and publish our own book which allowed everyone in class to contribute pages of writing and pictures. We utilized artificial intelligence to tie it all together into one cohesive story and it was quite entertaining, whacky and comical to read.\r\n\r\nMost kids improved fluency by 50 or more words per minute this year and many improved accuracy from below 90% to 99-100%. Half a dozen kids started the year reading under forty words per minute and all of these at least doubled, if not tripled their word count. It was phenomenal. We read all seven Chronicles of Narnia books, The Hobbit, Hatchet, Brian's Winter and My Side of the Mountain.\r\n\r\nReading fun novels in itself was a reward, but kids also earned points in the class economy, which they spent at our end of year Literacy Bash. Everyone was able to buy a book, some bought entire series of books. We also had some rather large prizes donated from elsewhere, which the ones with the most banked points (often those who didn't spend them frivolously on snacks/etc. during the year) were able to purchase in the class auction.\r\n\r\nWe could not have done this without your generosity, so thanks!","fullyFundedDate":1746657643135,"projectUrl":"project/end-of-year-literacy-bash/9261936/","projectTitle":"End of Year Literacy Bash","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Osborn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8974721_orig.jpg?crop=273,273,x0,y2&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1677717157601","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8974721"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_87753","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":168,"numTeachers":13,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":83,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"12.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":67.4,"schoolId":87753,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Riddle Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Riddle Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/riddle-school-district-70/riddle-elementary-school/87753"}
