We love when we can spend time at our \"thinking boards!\" We used them in both science and math class for a wide range of learning activities. \r\n\r\nIn math, my students are presented with a math challenge and work as a team at their thinking boards to solve it. They have to share their ideas and strategies with one another and then solve the problem. In science we have used it for model drawing, data collection, and brainstorming sessions. \r\n\r\nThe twist with the thinking boards is that there is only one marker and one person allowed to write at a time. The person writing can't be the person sharing their idea, so it requires that they listen to one another and understand what the other group members are saying in order to work it out and arrive at a solution. The students are really growing in their thinking and communication skills, especailly in how to respectfully diagree with a peer and compromise. \r\n\r\nWe wouldn't have this unique learning opportunity if it wasn't for your generous support. When I first brought them out, the students' eyes lit up. Many gasped and immediately started sharing ideas about what they could build. Their excitement filled the room, and it was clear these tiles would be a special addition to our classroom.\r\n\r\nIn the short time we've had them, students have used Magna-Tiles in so many ways: building shapes, testing structures, investigating magnetism, and working together on creative group projects. They loved experimenting with different designs and quickly discovered that collaboration made their creations stronger and more imaginative. Their problem-solving and teamwork skills grew every time they used the tiles.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will continue exploring balance, stability, and design challenges with Magna-Tiles. I know their curiosity and creativity will keep growing as we find new ways to use this resource in STEM learning.","fullyFundedDate":1746646179691,"projectUrl":"project/teamwork-in-action-stem-building-with-m/9253458/","projectTitle":"Teamwork in Action: STEM Building with Magna-Tiles","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rodemoyer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp722827_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1541991275256","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-rodemoyer"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_89728","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":282,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":46,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"11.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":80.5,"schoolId":89728,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Klein Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Klein Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/harbor-creek-school-district/klein-elementary-school/89728"}
