With the new standard business calculators, students can manually work through problems using paper and pencil while still checking their math efficiently. This hands-on approach helps them retain information longer and really understand the accounting process instead of just punching numbers into a machine.\r\n\r\nThe calculators have been especially useful during class activities like proving our journals and making sure debits equal credits. Students are able to find and detect their own errors, which builds confidence and helps them take ownership of their learning. They also use the calculators on quizzes and tests, which keeps them engaged and encourages careful, thoughtful work. Even students who were hesitant at first are now more willing to participate and tackle challenges because they feel fully equipped to succeed.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, we are giving students the tools they need to practice, understand, and retain real accounting skills that will stay with them far beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1755521819175,"projectUrl":"project/calculators-organization-confident-a/9552913/","projectTitle":"Calculators + Organization = Confident Accounting Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barzeski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2417987_orig.jpg?crop=1179,1179,x0,y66&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754602095027","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsbarzeski"},{"teacherId":2417987,"projectId":9555728,"letterContent":"Thanks so much for supporting \"Monopoly Meets Accounting: Making Numbers Come to Life.\" We kicked off the school year with Cash Flow Monopoly, and it was such an eye-opening experience! Students were tracking every single transaction, making sure their paper balances matched their cash on hand, and learning all the rules of accounting...without even realizing they were learning. They were fully engaged, making business decisions, managing cash, and competing with each other. The experience was so exciting that our class even made the district newsletter, especially since we were using our brand-new flexible learning space, The Hub, which made it easy to collaborate and move around.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll revisit Cash Flow Monopoly after our journalizing unit so students can record transactions using their multicolumn journals. This will tie the hands-on game experience directly to real accounting practice and really help solidify their understanding.
