They love the chair and rug and are always asking to do their group work at the back of the room or if they can move the nice chair to their table. It has been helpful to teach the classes deep breathing strategies with the calm breathing stickers. \r\n\r\nIn future projects, I hope to expand the types of supports I can give my students by providing more hygiene supplies, healthy snacks, and basic classroom supplies like pencils and binders. After inheriting a broken electric sharpener from the last teacher and having all my handheld sharpeners stolen in the first week of school, we desperatley needed a new pencil sharpener. The Afmat is so easy for students to use, and pencils don't get jammed in them. Reading can also inspire creative thinking and teach artistic behaviors, which is why I began the year reading \"Beautiful Oops\" by Barney Saltzberg to K-3rd grade. \r\n\r\nOur little library is also a great resource to occupy the time of students who finish their projects early. One of the best moments since I started this journey happened during small group time. A student who usually avoids reading aloud lit up after we practiced a new blending routine I learned from these resources. For the first time, they read through an entire decodable book without stopping.
