For many of my scholars, sitting down to a physical board game is an entirely new experience. They are used to interacting with avatars; I want them to learn to interact with each other.\r\n\r\nPost-pandemic, we have seen a significant need to explicitly teach social cues, conflict resolution, and collaborative play. Board games are the perfect laboratory for these skills. When students play Monopoly or The Game of Life, they aren't just moving plastic pieces around a board; they are:\r\n\r\nPracticing Financial Literacy: Calculating taxes, managing bank accounts, and making strategic investments.\r\n\r\nBuilding Social Stamina: Learning to take turns, negotiate trades, and handle \"setbacks\" (like landing on Boardwalk with a hotel!) in a safe environment.\r\n\r\nStrengthening Community: Communicating face-to-face, reading body language, and building friendships that aren't mediated by an algorithm.\r\n\r\nBy bringing these classic games into our space, we are giving students the tools to navigate the \"real world\" while having the time of their lives. Your donation helped me and my students bring more life into the classroom. These new resources provided through you has helped our classroom become more organized and structured with the piles of papers we work on! We use the new provided resources to organize our pencils by class sections using specific colors that represents their section. We also use the file organizer to turn in assignments in according the class section assigned to a specific slot. I additionally used the hanging file organizer to have past assignments students may have missed the past week so that they can have a chance to make up their work. Our snack box has been pretty helpful, especially for my students to snack after working long and hard on their assignments. It has truly made a difference in our classroom!\r\n\r\nWhen the packages arrived, my students eyes were filled with curiosity and excitement.
