The students absolutely love all of the new books. When they first arrived, the students were very curious about what had come in the boxes. Once I got everything set up and ready for them to read, that was all they wanted to do!\r\n\r\nI was hopeful that the students would enjoy the new books, but they have truly surprised me with just how excited and engaged they are with them.\r\n\r\nMost days I give the students about 10–15 minutes of time to read. I encourage them to choose one book, read the entire story, and then take an AR test on it. We have been learning a few each morning. The students enjoy talking about the letter sounds and watching the videos that go with each pair. We usually discuss two or three Secret Stories most mornings. Recently, the students have been asking to rewatch certain letter pairs because they really enjoy the stories that go along with them.\r\n\r\nThe posters that came with the kit are also very helpful for the students. I am able to point to the picture and remind them that it is a clue to the sound the letters make. When the students ate the snacks they were able to focus on learning because their stomachs weren't growling. The snacks helped my students improve their work and test scores. \r\n The drawing paper and Play-Doh brought out the creativity and feelings in my students. We used the drawing paper two ways. One way was to draw about their feelings when they were upset. The second way we used the drawing paper was to create a poster of their favorite page from the story we were reading. The students had to draw their favorite picture and write two sentences about the picture. \r\n In conclusion, my students enjoyed the snacks and the materials you donated to our classroom. They were so excited that a company would do that for them.
