It provides students with the opportunity to hear fluent reading modeled consistently, which helps improve their own reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. As they follow along with the text while listening, students build word recognition and reinforce decoding skills in a low-pressure, enjoyable format.\r\n\r\nThe center also promotes student choice and autonomy, allowing them to explore a variety of texts at their own pace and reading level. It serves as an inclusive resource for English Language Learners and struggling readers who benefit from repeated exposure to language in both auditory and visual forms. This year I had a nonreader in my classroom. Without this listening center it would have been harder to put grade appropriate books in this students hands. But because of this listening center my student was able to feel equal to her peers and listen to books they were reading and be able to have meaningful conversations with them about the books they read. \r\n\r\nBeyond literacy, the listening center fosters quiet, focused engagement, which contributes to a productive and well-managed learning environment. It supports differentiated instruction by allowing me to meet with small groups or individuals while other students are meaningfully engaged in their own learning.","fullyFundedDate":1723676206220,"projectUrl":"project/listening-center-for-building-strong-rea/8545491/","projectTitle":"Listening Center for Building Strong Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bowles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7932501_orig.jpg?crop=1244,1244,x0,y360&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696740924048","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7932501"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14182","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":148,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":65,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"8.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":93.8,"schoolId":14182,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Adrian School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Adrian School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/adrian-independent-school-district/adrian-school/14182"}
