Their faces—full of happiness, focus, and pride—truly say it all.\r\n\r\nThis project has two main components. First, the Dr. Seuss books are used for daily read-alouds and discussions about the meaningful lessons hidden within the stories, helping to strengthen students' reading comprehension. The rhymes in the books have also introduced students to poetry in an enjoyable and accessible way. These books have become a daily routine in our classroom and are also used as a reward for students who complete their work early.\r\n\r\nThe second part of the project involves using LEGOs to encourage writing. Students are given time to build a creation using the pieces in their assigned tray, and then they draw and write about what they have built. This activity has been incredibly successful—students ask to do it every day, and it is a joy to see every child writing enthusiastically and putting forth their best effort to explain their own ideas. Students are able to speak into the Amira app clearly.
