These stories help introduce important skills such as identifying emotions, building empathy, communicating clearly, managing frustration, solving conflicts, and understanding different perspectives. Because the books reflect a wide range of cultures, family structures, and life experiences, my students are able to see themselves in the pages while also learning about others.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is interactive and joyful. We use these books during whole group SEL lessons, small group discussions, partner reading, and independent choice time. Students love making connections between the characters and their own experiences. During lessons, they regularly stop to comment on how a character is feeling, why a choice was difficult, or what they might do differently. These books have made our SEL conversations more natural and meaningful because the stories feel real and relevant to them.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have been especially excited about the new books. One student who rarely participated before now raises his hand during SEL time to share how he relates to a character who is learning to calm down or express feelings in healthier ways. Another student who struggles with friendships has been drawn to books that model cooperation and problem solving, and she has already begun using some of the strategies she learned from the stories.\r\n\r\nYour support has brought powerful tools into our classroom. These books have strengthened our SEL lessons, boosted student confidence, and created a safe and welcoming space where all students feel seen. Thank you for making such a meaningful difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1755722016876,"projectUrl":"project/strong-hearts-and-minds-through-books/9466032/","projectTitle":"Strong Hearts and Minds Through Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Simon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7861088_orig.jpg?crop=535,535,x186,y196&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751577182003","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7861088"},{"teacherId":7861088,"projectId":9115643,"letterContent":"We opened the boxes together, and the excitement was unforgettable. Their joy and laughter filled the room.\r\n\r\nSince then, the flexible seating has become part of everything we do. Reading time feels cozy and inviting, and I see students more focused and relaxed with a book in their hands. During math, writing, and group projects, they love moving around the room and choosing a place that helps them do their best work.
