I had never done Donors Choose before and was so excited to be chosen. About 4 years ago my budget has been cut in half, receiving about 80 cents per student to create art for the entire year, and then the last 2 years I was not even given a budget and told to only get what was absolutely needed for that year. So, I have been unable to buy the absolute necessities, and usually if I want to do something more fun with my students I just buy it myself. However, due to my own personal finances I have been struggling to do that as much this year as in previous years. So, the support in being able to receive supplies was great. \r\nStudents were so excited when they saw the art supplies!\r\nThis was the first time these students got to do paper mache and do a dimensional artwork. Students were very excited and greatly enjoyed getting to do this, and were so proud to show their parents during their 2nd grade music program. \r\nStudents started with the green paper and created their baseball field, then we used the foam balls as our base and foundation for the baseball, and paper mached the foam ball. Foam balls were cut in half to have enough for all students, and to be able to glue to the baseball field. After the balls were dry students used the white paint to paint their baseballs and once that was dry they used the paint pens to draw the lines on their baseballs. Once all pieces were completed I used the spray glue to adhere the baseball to their baseball field, this glue worked great and exceeded my expectations.\r\nStudent art was hung up on the walls behind where the students stood on the risers to perform their music program and created a nice backdrop for them.\r\nFamilies and students loved the art, and other teachers on our campus thought this art project was really neat.\r\nI can not begin to express my gratitude for your donation and support. You helped to make my dream for this project come true, because I just didn't have the funds personally to do this. So, thank you so very much. The students absolutely loved it!\r\n\r\nAnd they wanted to say, \"THANK YOU!!!!!\"","fullyFundedDate":1769177457918,"projectUrl":"project/art-for-our-music-program/10037166/","projectTitle":"Art for Our Music Program","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Paterson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6720771_orig.jpg?crop=2207,2207,x614,y604&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768591476368","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6720771"},{"teacherId":3754340,"projectId":9658546,"letterContent":"The donated books have already made a meaningful difference in our classroom. These new texts expose students to a wider range of genres, topics, and reading levels, allowing us to focus on essential literacy skills such as comprehension, vocabulary development, making inferences, and identifying theme and character growth. Having updated, engaging books has also helped students practice stamina and critical thinking as they read both independently and in small groups.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active, joyful experience. Students choose books that interest them, participate in guided reading discussions, and share recommendations with one another. The new books have sparked curiosity and conversation, making reading time something students genuinely look forward to each day rather than viewing it as an assignment.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously reluctant readers are especially excited about these new additions. They are more eager to pick up a book, talk about what they are reading, and even read during free moments. Seeing their confidence grow and their love of reading deepen has been incredibly rewarding, and it would not have been possible without the generosity of our donors.","fullyFundedDate":1765133946134,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-love-of-reading-one-book-at/9658546/","projectTitle":"Building a Love of Reading, One Book at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Koehler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3754340_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1543123060681","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kj-cole"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_12336","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":594,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":30,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":48,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":77.0,"schoolId":12336,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rice Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Rice Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/conroe-independent-school-district/rice-elementary-school/12336"}
