Now, their creations come out in full color, and it's amazing to see how proud they are. The energy in the room changes every time the printer starts—students crowd around, waiting to see their ideas come to life.\r\n\r\nOne student who used to be hesitant with hands-on tech has completely jumped in. He's now helping others design and troubleshoot their prints—and talking about being an engineer someday. Another group created a set of bumper cars for the school to choose from at our annual Innovators Night- they designed themselves, using the different colors to show features and functions. We've had great opportunities for productive struggle along the way but even failures are part of the success. One of my students saw that the soap dispenser kept leaking on the counter and she designed a soap dish to catch it, it's cute and matches the decor!\r\n\r\nThis filament might seem like a small upgrade, but to these kids, it's the difference between seeing their work as \"just a school project\" and seeing it as something real and meaningful. There's no complicated coding or overwhelming instructions—they just snap blocks together and see what happens. Each block has its own function—some move, some sense light, some act as the brain—and when they connect them, they're literally building working robots. It's like LEGOs but way cooler because the creations come to life.\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\nWhat's been really awesome is how much learning is happening while they play. I've overheard things like, \"What if we swap these two?\" or \"Let's test it in the dark to see if it still works!\" They're thinking critically, collaborating, testing ideas, and learning from what doesn't work—which is honestly such a big win as a teacher.\r\n\r\nAnd I've got to say, one of the best parts has been seeing students who are usually quieter or more reserved totally come out of their shell. One student, who's normally super shy, figured out how to make the robot follow light and started showing everyone else how to do it. Watching her lead a group and explain her thinking with so much confidence was a highlight of my week.\r\n\r\nThe best part? They don't even realize how much they're learning—they're just having fun, creating, and discovering what's possible. That kind of learning sticks with them. They remember it. They feel proud of it. And now they're already asking when we can build more robots or learn how to code them.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this happen.
