I serve a wonderful group of young scientists each year, and with the recent changes in our curriculum, this membership is exactly what we needed to keep our learning engaging, hands-on, and aligned to our goals.\r\n\r\nThe Science Duo offers interactive, student-led activities that turn science concepts into meaningful experiences. With access to their full library of station labs, my students can dive into summarizing, creating, interpreting data, experimenting, navigating models, challenging misconceptions, and extending their learning far beyond what we could do before. These inquiry-based tasks give students ownership of their learning and build the critical thinking skills that science demands.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, I am now able to plan more dynamic lessons, differentiate instruction more easily, and give students opportunities to explore concepts at their own pace. This resource will be used daily in our classroom, and I know it will make a lasting impact on their confidence and growth as scientists.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom and believing in the power of interactive science education. This project has made a tremendous difference in our science classroom and has brought so much excitement to my students.\r\n\r\nHow are we using the new resources?\r\nThe display cabinet is now the centerpiece of our classroom. We use it to showcase our growing collection of science specimens—rocks, minerals, fossils, shells, and student-collected samples. During our current unit, students have been researching and labeling the specimens, creating museum-style description cards, and proudly displaying their work. One memorable moment was watching students crowd around the cabinet, pointing out details they had never noticed before when the items were stored in boxes.\r\n\r\nHow did students react when they first saw it?\r\nThe students were thrilled! Many gasped when they walked in and saw the cabinet filled with organized, well-lit specimens. Several students said it felt like \"a real science museum,\" and others immediately asked if they could bring items from home to contribute. The sense of ownership and pride has been incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nWhat's next for our class?\r\nOur next steps include continuing our \"Classroom Museum Project.\" Students will rotate as weekly curators—responsible for updating displays, adding new specimens, and sharing short presentations about featured items. We will also begin a hands-on investigation comparing properties of different rocks and minerals, using the cabinet as our reference collection.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping transform our classroom into an engaging, hands-on science learning environment. From flashcards to visual aids and interactive activity sheets, students can practice skills repeatedly without worrying about materials getting damaged. This has made lessons more hands-on, engaging, and interactive, which supports deeper understanding and retention of concepts across subjects.\r\n\r\nWhat about the new product is most exciting to your students?\r\n\r\nStudents are especially excited to see their work transformed into laminated materials that \"last forever.\" They love that they can write, wipe, and reuse worksheets or game boards, and it makes them feel like their contributions are valued and professional. Watching their projects come out of the laminator is often a highlight of our day!\r\n\r\nAre there particular students who have especially warmed to this new technology, and how so?\r\n\r\nStudents who need extra practice or who learn best through repetition have especially benefited from the laminator. For example, some students who struggled with math facts or spelling patterns can now use laminated cards and wipeable sheets to practice independently or in small groups. It has also engaged students who are usually shy about participating—they are more willing to try activities when they can use the materials multiple times and see their progress visually.","fullyFundedDate":1752671682405,"projectUrl":"project/preserving-manipulatives-for-future-use/9206910/","projectTitle":"Preserving Manipulatives for Future Use","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Davis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3701155_orig.jpg?crop=827,827,x0,y49&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1687540934695","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3701155"},{"teacherId":3701155,"projectId":9429178,"letterContent":"Thank you again for funding this project. Our students are using the new whisks, bowls, and knives to explore hands-on cooking techniques safely and creatively. During our first cooking club session, students worked in small groups to prepare a simple fruit salad. They practiced measuring, mixing, and chopping under supervision, which helped them apply math and science skills in a real-world setting. One student excitedly commented that using the proper tools made them feel like a \"real chef,\" and we could see their confidence grow as they worked together.\r\n\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new whisks, bowls, and knives, their eyes lit up! Many of them were eager to try out the tools immediately, asking questions about how to use each one correctly. It was clear that having high-quality, age-appropriate equipment made the cooking experience more engaging and enjoyable for everyone.\r\n\r\nNext, students will apply the skills they practiced by following simple recipes that incorporate both cooking techniques and nutrition concepts. They will plan and prepare their own small dishes, working in teams to assign roles and practice safe kitchen habits.
