It has been a busy beginning of the school year. \r\nMy students love the new Bluetooth headphones when they are working on their iPads in class. They have to do a program at least 2 days per week. Before the Bluetooth headphones, they had wired headphones and would often get distracted by the cords and when they would unplug them, the class would get distracted hearing their program. \r\nThey love that the headphones are comfy and do not hurt their ears. Our next steps will be getting to do more crafts for each holiday and season that it coming up. These materials are allowing students to see how creative they can be with other materials than just crayons and markers. We have practice on how to keep food and drink on the tables and trays. However, accidents or messes are still made due to them being four and five years old. When these messes are made, it is important to clean them up and show them that cleanliness is very important. Having the vacuums and the cleaner has made a huge difference in distractions as well as keeping germs out. When students tend to get sick we have the ability to put stuff on it to harden it and sweep/vacuum it up and then clean it up with the carpet cleaner. We use the cushions daily for flexible seating around the room to get out of chairs. With being a first year teacher, my library started out very small. My students absolutely love the new books and the Dogman series is such a hit! Students enjoy the books so much they check the books out with me and return to get more. This is so exciting because they go to the regular school library weekly and they still choose to check out in my class as well. This is great evidence that shows the love for books and the importance of reading for joy! We have already used them and the response was exactly as we hoped. We use jump ropes to cross off lots of things on our teacher's list, while trying to make it fun for our students. We use the ropes to increase mobility, improve footwork and speed, and most importantly to increase cardiovascular endurance.\r\nOur students noticed new equipment and immediately started asking questions. The ropes we normally use have a colored rope so when they saw a clear rope, they were curious as to what came next. They were so excited to explore the colors and patterns of their ropes. It was fun to see what classes chose. Some went with solid colors and some went with blinking and chasing lights. ALL students had the same reaction when the lights turned off! Squeals followed by turning the rope faster than before.\r\nCoach Hart and I try to teach our students to be life long movers. Jump rope is something they can do as they reach adulthood to keep them healthy and active. The motivation our light up jump ropes gave them was fun to witness. We had students at the end of the day really excited about coming to the gym. They either passed by and saw \"a party\" in the gym or had heard about it from other students. We aren't sure what our next project will be but we are already thinking and planning! On behalf of our students, Coach Hart, and myself thank you again for contributing to our gym!","fullyFundedDate":1730764512207,"projectUrl":"project/glow-and-grow-jump-rope-show/8705451/","projectTitle":"Glow and Grow, Jump Rope Show!","teacherDisplayName":"Coach C","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8355866_orig.jpg?crop=1320,1320,x806,y1763&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717096882790","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8355866"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_94464","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":518,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":19,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":66,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.3,"schoolId":94464,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Roy Roberts Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Roy Roberts Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/lubbock-independent-school-district/roy-roberts-elementary-school/94464"}
