It's been four years since and I can tell you that having something as simple as a place to sit in my classroom makes all the difference. My students are first graders. They need closeness, they need community and they need each other. I wholeheartedly believe that having the classroom carpet has improved my instruction, improve their ability to focus, that has brought us together as a classroom family. \r\n\r\nOne of our favorite things to do while sitting on the carpet is student led read aloud. My students will practice books at home and come into class asking to read to the class. It's such a \r\nspecial moment.
