This is really a game changer in my classroom for several reasons. To start, having shared books has allowed me to target specific skills with a targeted group of students. It is so much easier to discuss comprehension strategies when kids have had the same text. Prior to the receiving the books, we never had shared text experiences. \r\n\r\nA second reason the books have been so beneficial is because they have allowed me to teach similar themes simultaneously. The students may be reading a different title, but all 3 titles are great for teaching about kindness and acceptance of others differences. It is hard to find current titles with current themes that kids today connect with. I love that each of these books really seem to be current to the kids. \r\n\r\nFinally, these novels are so popular with my students that they are begging to be able to read another one, In fact, for my reluctant readers, this is the first book some of them have completed this school year. So many of the titles we have access to are old and outdated. While there are some great literature choices, it is disheartening for the kids to open books that are falling apart and torn to pieces.","fullyFundedDate":1732308548776,"projectUrl":"project/together-we-read/8946498/","projectTitle":"Together We Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Romick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9839126"},{"teacherId":9323407,"projectId":8495607,"letterContent":"Having some time to reflect on the school year prior to break and preparing to return for the New Year, I must say your generous donations has made my planning and engagement fun and interactive!
