As fourth graders we need a lot of practice reading so we need a variety of genres. When we finish our assignment in class we can select a book from the classroom library to read. There were gasps, wide eyes, and instant cheers! For many of them, this was their first time experiencing glow-in-the-dark activities, and they couldn't believe something so fun could happen in PE. It felt like a party and a workout all in one!\r\n\r\nWe've been using the new materials in a variety of ways. Not only have students been learning bowling techniques like proper stance, aim, and follow-through, but we've also turned it into a team-building challenge. The students incorporated both strategy and physical coordination. They're not just learning how to bowl—they're learning how to communicate, solve problems, and encourage each other.\r\n\r\nOne unforgettable moment came when a student who usually shies away from physical activity asked for an extra turn. He was so engaged and proud of himself after knocking down all the pins with a straight shot—and the class erupted in applause. That kind of confidence boost is exactly why this project matters.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're expanding this into a cross-curricular mini-unit. Students will soon be tracking their scores, calculating averages, and graphing their progress—blending math with movement. We're also planning a \"Glow Games Day\" to wrap up the unit, where students will rotate through various glow-in-the-dark stations that reinforce different fitness skills in a fun and unique environment.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, our PE class isn't just about fitness—it's about joy, creativity, and inclusion. Your donation didn't just buy equipment—it gave my students an experience they'll remember for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1758636830356,"projectUrl":"project/glow-in-the-dark-bowling/9558895/","projectTitle":"Glow in the Dark Bowling","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Sanchez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9781725_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y304&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727463081072","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9781725"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_132197","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":440,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":18,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":76.9,"schoolId":132197,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jimmie Ray Elementary on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Jimmie Ray Elementary","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/waxahachie-independent-school-district/ray-elementary-school/132197"}
