While many of our donors may be familiar with 3D printers as a hobby or home technology, in our classroom it has become a powerful hands-on learning tool. Students are not just watching ideas come to life — they are designing, testing, revising, and problem-solving in real time. Using Tinkercad to create personalized emojis and name plates, they have learned how to think spatially, measure accurately, and troubleshoot design challenges. The printer has turned abstract concepts like dimensions, symmetry, and design thinking into something tangible they can hold in their hands.\r\n\r\nWhat excites them most is seeing their digital creations transform into real objects layer by layer. The printing process has sparked constant curiosity — students gather around to observe, ask questions, and predict what will happen next. I have watched students who are typically hesitant in traditional academic settings become leaders during design challenges. They eagerly help classmates adjust sizing, fix structural issues, and rethink designs that don't print as expected. The collaboration and peer teaching that has naturally developed has been one of the most rewarding outcomes.\r\n\r\nNext, students will be creating custom stamps featuring our state or a USA symbol to demonstrate their understanding of symbols and why they are important. This project connects technology with social studies in a meaningful way. Rather than simply memorizing facts, students will design symbols that represent ideas and values, deepening their comprehension through creativity. The 3D printer has not only increased engagement but has also fostered confidence, resilience, and teamwork. Thank you for helping bring this innovative learning experience to our classroom — it has truly made a lasting impact.","fullyFundedDate":1759447848519,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-learning-to-life-with-a-3d-prin/9766490/","projectTitle":"Bringing Learning to Life with a 3D Printer","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shelton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8301154"},{"teacherId":10351196,"projectId":9897119,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in providing our resource classroom with a 3D printer. Your kindness has made an immediate and meaningful impact on our students' learning and motivation.\r\n\r\nThe students are excited to earn rewards that they can choose, design and print. This sense of ownership has boosted engagement and pride in their work. For many of our learners, academic tasks are extremely difficult and this has been a powerful motivator for them.\r\n\r\nOur readers are especially benefiting from 3D-printed reading tools like line readers. They are excited to use these tools and are even more eager to learn how to create personalized tools that meet their own needs. Seeing their enthusiasm for reading grow has been truly rewarding.\r\n\r\nIn math, students have printed manipulatives tailored to their individual learning styles. These hands-on tools have helped make abstract concepts more concrete, increasing understanding and confidence.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our students are not just learning academic skills, they are building creativity, problem-solving abilities, and a love of learning. Thank you for believing in education for everyone and investing in student success.","fullyFundedDate":1763592508640,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-special-education-students-th/9897119/","projectTitle":"Empowering Special Education Students Through 3D Printing Creativity!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10351196"},{"teacherId":3843392,"projectId":9897200,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our project - Big Ideas From Little Learners. Because of your generosity, our students were able to engage in a hands-on stem experience that brought science concepts to life.\r\n\r\nUsing our 3-D printer, we printed spinning tops for our experiment. Students then used the scientific method to form a hypothesis about which surface - carpet or grass - would allow the tops to spin the longest. \r\n\r\nStudents were excited to make predictions, collect data and compare results. Being able to physically test their ideas made the learning meaningful and fun. The majority of students chose carpet as the surface that would allow the tops to spin the longest and the data gathered supported this. This helped further students knowledge of friction and motion. \r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our classroom and helping us provide interactive real world science opportunities for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1763573093772,"projectUrl":"project/big-ideas-from-little-learners/9897200/","projectTitle":"Big Ideas from Little Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Christiansen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3843392"},{"teacherId":3982158,"projectId":9790482,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting technology in our second and third grade classroom. Your generosity has given our students exciting new ways to learn, create, and grow.\r\nOne of our favorite tools is our 3-D printer, which students use to be innovative and creative. They design and print items connected to our writing and science lessons, helping them turn ideas into real objects. For example, students may design models that represent scientific concepts or create objects that support stories and informational writing they've developed. This process encourages creativity, critical thinking, and perseverance. This hands-on learning makes concepts easier to understand and much more engaging for young learners.\r\nStudents are especially excited to see their designs come to life as the printer works. The 3-D printer has also been used as a positive incentive and to create small holiday gifts, which makes learning feel fun and rewarding.\r\nSome students who struggle with traditional activities have really shined with this technology. It has boosted their confidence and encouraged them to take pride in their work.\r\nThank you for helping make learning meaningful and exciting for our students.
