For example, I have students feel frustrated when they don't understand the math problem, so they start getting upset. I give them a box of tools to use and help them self-regulate. That's such a powerful approach! Giving students tangible tools to manage their emotions, especially when feeling frustrated, can make a difference in how they approach challenges. It's great that I could find ways to integrate sensory and self-regulation techniques during moments of frustration, especially when math can be such a triggering subject for many students. Offering a box of tools is awesome because it gives students the autonomy to choose what works for them. Whether it's a fidget toy, a stress ball, or maybe even something like a textured strip they can rub, those small actions can help ground them and redirect their focus when the stress starts to build. It also teaches them a crucial skill: feeling frustrated is okay, but there are healthy ways to manage those feelings.","fullyFundedDate":1733256738278,"projectUrl":"project/learning-materials-for-social-emotional/8554602/","projectTitle":"Learning Materials for Social Emotional","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Anjaline Nair","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9339516"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_55341","usesÐǿմ«Ã½":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":380,"numTeachers":26,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":23,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.8,"schoolId":55341,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Silver Lake Elementary School on @Ðǿմ«Ã½:","schoolName":"Silver Lake Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/federal-way-public-schools/silver-lake-elementary-school/55341"}
