At the beginning of the year, we began art and literacy activities once a week in the library. We had very few supplies and students were constantly throwing away markers, bad paint brushes and working on paper with writing on one side. They were grateful for the activities, but their faces sure lit up when the boxes full of art supplies arrived. \r\n\r\nThe new supplies opened the door for more creative projects. Students learned how to use different art mediums to create with. They were introduced to paint sticks, dobbers, acrylics, and watercolor on real watercolor paper; oh, what a difference good paper makes. Students explored chalk pastels and oil pastels and learned to mix mediums such as cut paper, collage and painting. \r\n\r\nStudents were excited to share their creativity with their parents, who in turn have contacted our Superintendent to praise the project.
