Our old classroom set had seen many years of love and learning, and it was truly time for a refresh. Each year, this novel is a highlight for my fourth graders—it's not just a story we read, but one we live through together. We explore themes of great-heartedness, resilience, and friendship, and the students are always captivated by the characters' journeys. Having crisp, new books in their hands makes the experience even more special and meaningful.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has brought fresh excitement to our classroom and reminded my students of the power of generosity. Knowing that someone cared enough to support their learning has inspired them deeply. We can't wait to dive into the story again this year and finish our unit with the much-anticipated movie viewing that ties everything together so beautifully. Thank you for making such a lasting impact on our students and for helping keep our classroom library vibrant and engaging.","fullyFundedDate":1754696219362,"projectUrl":"project/our-holes-set-has-holes/9349245/","projectTitle":"Our Holes Set Has Holes!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smulkowski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9604870_orig.jpg?crop=1920,1920,x0,y38&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721767421862","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9604870"},{"teacherId":9604870,"projectId":8515049,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for helping us to purchase a class set of Esperanza Rising. Our 4th grade team made it a priority this year to obtain novel sets to use as a grade level that are up to date and connect with our new district-wide curriculum. Esperanza Rising fit in perfectly with our first unit of study which is all about the figurative and literal great heart. Esperanza is one of the most inspirational characters and students really connected with her and the struggles she overcame. I think it's important to expose kids to different cultures and the challenges that others face even in our own country. All our students here have no experience with migrant workers or the challenges their families face. It was humbling and eye-opening for them to read about Esperanza and her family. They loved the transformation that she went through and it was easy to connect her with both our biography study about impactful humans throughout history, and with all the ways she displays great heartedness. Thank you for helping expand our school library and add this novel set to our building library so that all 4th graders now and in the future can enjoy this amazing story.","fullyFundedDate":1732422915735,"projectUrl":"project/diversity-novel-study-class-set/8515049/","projectTitle":"Diversity Novel Study Class Set","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Smulkowski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9604870_orig.jpg?crop=1920,1920,x0,y38&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721767421862","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9604870"},{"teacherId":9604870,"projectId":8963096,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for generously donating supplies for our classroom. I was able to purchase a number of items, but the class favorite was definitely the playdough. Each student got their own small container to keep at their desk. They could use this during instructional time if they needed a fidget to stay focused, or could use it during quiet times like when I was reading aloud or when they were finished with their work. I let them have some extra playtime to get those fun pictures I sent. :) They loved the time at the end of a long day to just sit and play. This class is especially creative so they love having something creative to use in their desks. Thank you for sending us such a wonderful gift.
